Cher has filed papers in a Los Angeles court opposing the appointment of her son Elijah Blue Allman’s wife, Marieangela King-Allman, as his conservator.
The matter was brought to court because Allman, 50, who is facing legal and mental health issues after a pair of arrests earlier this year, remains in custody at the New Hampshire State Hospital, a psychiatric facility.
King-Allman, 39, requested appointment as Allman’s conservator in an Aug. 18 filing, which Cher reversed through her attorney, Justin Gold, on Aug. 28; The Daily Mail reviewed both respective documents.
The 80-year-old singer-actress said in her filing that her family believes that [King-Allman] is putting itself back into the picture in search of money and/or a little fame.’
The latest comes less than two months after the New Hampshire State Hospital attempted to establish a state guardianship for Allman “for both his person and his estate” on July 7, suggesting his half-brothers Chaz Bono and Devon Allman will assume the responsibilities, according to Cher’s filing.
The Daily Mail has contacted Cher’s lawyer and King-Allman for further comment on the story.

Cher said in her legal filing that “New Hampshire State Hospital and the rest of the family remain adamantly opposed to Ms. King-Allman’s actions as guardian, noting a number of factors.”
These included the couple’s “previously pending divorce”; and King-Allman’s “refusal and inability to help” Allman (the son of Cher and the late rocker Gregg Allman) and his caregiver Kayti Pease “as he struggled before being arrested in New Hampshire.”
A Los Angeles conservatorship hearing was postponed Tuesday by Superior Court Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui until Dec. 1 because neither Allman nor his legal representative had attended. Page six reported.
Cher said in her filing that “King-Allman had been in the process of divorcing” Allman for months and was “estranged from him” when she “initiated these conservatorship proceedings” earlier this year.
King-Allman “never lifted a finger to help her husband” amid repeated requests for help from Pease, Cher said in the filing.
Cher told the court she believed King-Allman saw the guardian position as “a financial opportunity to control his income, and that she has tried to take the opportunity created by his incarceration to try to reintegrate herself into his life.”
Allman had refused to see King-Allman three times when she visited him in New Hampshire, Cher said in her filing.
About King-Allman, she added, “Given her behavior and indifference to his health and living situation over the past year, she should in no way ever be considered a viable candidate to serve as a court-appointed fiduciary.”

Allman and King-Allman initially married in 2013, with King-Allman filing for divorce in 2021.
It was dismissed in February 2024 and in April 2025 she filed a subsequent divorce petition citing ‘irreconcilable differences’. That application was rejected last June.
King-Allman said last month that she had not been “properly provided” with information regarding a conservatorship for Allman, which she believes she should be in charge of.
She said that with Allman in the New Hampshire facility, the state remains “unique and well-positioned” to address the custody issue; and that Cher’s continued pursuit of this creates a clear jurisdictional conflict with the New Hampshire court.”
King-Allman said in her filing that she felt Allman’s recovery would be jeopardized if Cher — “whom he has been estranged from for years” — were to choose his conservator.
In May, court documents filed on Allman’s behalf said Cher had not given him any money since August 2021.

Allman spoke candidly to Entertainment Tonight in 2014 about his history of substance abuse.
“I started doing drugs around the same time as all of us, around 11 o’clock,” he said, referring to marijuana and MDMA. “I mean, it’s just what you did, it’s just what everyone else did.”
Allman said he later came into contact with “heroin and opiates” during a difficult time in his life, adding, “If you can just go through that period and live through it and then get help.”
He said he had “some close calls and some moments where he really felt on the edge of mortality” at the time he was using.
‘I’ve always kept it a bit safe, but you can never do that. Even though you think in your head, of course, the wrong things can happen,” Allman said. “A wrong combination of things can happen and you can just end up in the abyss.
“I knew it was wrong, and I knew I was very dissatisfied with life at that moment.”
