When Romeo Beckham was hired as the face of the Burberry During the 2014 Christmas campaign, he was subjected to a barrage of accusations of cronyism.
When he was just 12 years old, fashion chiefs were furious that the company’s CEO, Christopher Bailey, had singled out his close friend Victoria Beckham‘s son to pose in the label’s famous plaid scarf and a beige trench coat.
But now, 12 years later, Romeo is back at the helm of the luxury designer to front their winter campaign, which was unveiled today, on his 24th birthday.
Having built a career as a model himself, Posh and Becks’ middle son is seen in a plum purple leather jacket and matching check. jeans after closing the deal.
It is clear that Romeo won the contract himself this time, without help from his famous parents.
He was joined by singer FK Twigs and a cast of other models for the photoshoot, which features the River Thames and other London landmarks such as Tower Bridge and Houses of Parliament as a backdrop.

When Romeo Beckham was hired as the face of Burberry’s Christmas campaign in 2012, he was subjected to a barrage of accusations of nepotism.
Burberry’s chief creative officer Daniel Lee said: ‘FKA twigs and Romeo Beckham represent the energy that makes London unique. It’s a place where anything seems possible, and it felt good to return to our hometown this season.”
Earlier this year, Romeo, who has fallen out with his older brother Brooklyn amid the Beckham family feud, walked in their autumn/winter show which took place during London Fashion Week.
It’s quite a contrast to Romeo’s first role with Burberry, when he was still a teenager.
Despite accusations of nepotism, he melted hearts when he played a cheeky cupid boy who danced through the streets of London to deliver a magical gift to a young couple.
The Beckhams were ‘extremely proud’ of their son at the time.
Romeo isn’t the only one of David and Victoria’s children to work with the label. In 2016, Brooklyn photographed Burberry’s fragrance campaign, which again angered other, more experienced photographers who felt it devalued the skills and training of professionals.
Meanwhile, Victoria paid tribute to Romeo on Tuesday as she celebrated his birthday.
She wrote on Instagram: ‘Romeo, you have the biggest smile and an even bigger heart.’
He was joined by singer FK Twigs and a cast of other models for the photoshoot, which features the River Thames and other London landmarks such as Tower Bridge and Houses of Parliament as a backdrop.
“You are smart, kind and loved by all of us. We are so proud of the incredible young man you have become. You treat everyone with so much respect and kindness. x Happy birthday
we love you.’
His father David, 51, shared his own birthday message, writing: ‘Happy birthday
