Sharon Stone made the surprising admission in a new podcast appearance that she has been celibate for “some time.”
Stone, 68, told Mayim Bialik Breakdown podcast Wednesday that she has stopped pursuing casual relationships because she now wants a companion instead of someone whose only goal is sex.
The Basic Instinct star – who was recently slammed by one of her former costars – also admitted she doesn’t believe she ever found the love of her life, despite being married twice.
During the interview, which also touched on her near-death experience following a stroke, Stone revealed that two psychics have independently predicted that her romantic fortunes will finally change when she is almost 70, with one making the extraordinary prophecy when she was just 23.
While speaking to the Big Bang Theory actress, Stone said, “I’m a really good girlfriend, but I haven’t been a girlfriend for a long time.
“And I’ve been a friend to bad boyfriends. And I’ve been a friend to good friends. I’ve had good luck and bad luck and no luck at all. And for a long time I had no luck at all.’
Sharon Stone, 68, admitted she had been celibate for “a long time” during an appearance Wednesday on Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown podcast; Stone will be showing in Cannes, France in May
Stone, who was married to television producer Michael Greenburg from 1984 to 1990 and to journalist Phil Bronstein from 1998 to 2004, also said she never found the love of her life; seen with Bronstein in 2000 in LA
She continued, “I’ve been celibate for a while because I’m at the point where all I really want to do is be with someone I care about.
‘And now that my children are grown, I want someone to be my companion, not just someone to have sex with. That kind of bores me.”
Stone – who is the mother of adopted sons Roan, 26; Laird, 21; and Quinn, 20 – said she believes accepting time alone is necessary if she ultimately wants to find the relationship she wants.
When asked if she has ever met the great love of her life, the Hollywood star replied: “I’ve had loves in my life, but I don’t think I’ve had the great love of my life, no.”
She recalled that at the age of 23, she visited a psychic who had also worked with the late singer Tina Turner.
Stone claimed the woman had accurately predicted her future global fame, before warning that finding lasting love would prove significantly more difficult.
According to Stone, the psychic told her, “You’re not going to meet your person until you’re quite old, quite a bit older.
‘And then they’ll be just like you. In a way you start to identify with them. But that won’t happen until you’re a lot older, almost seventy.’
“I’ve been celibate for a while because I’m at the point where all I really want to do is be with someone I care about,” Stone said. ‘And now that my children are grown, I want someone to be my companion, not just someone to have sex with. I’m a bit tired of that’; seen in May in Cannes, France
When asked if she has ever met the great love of her life, the Hollywood star replied: ‘I have had loves in my life, but I don’t think I have had the great love of my life, no’; seen with first husband Greenburg in 1996
Stone said another psychic later gave her the same prediction about meeting her partner as she approached her 70s.
The star has been married twice, first to television producer Michael Greenburg and later to journalist Phil Bronstein, whom she divorced in 2004.
She has previously been outspoken about becoming disillusioned with dating, declaring in 2020 that she was “done” because she found people “disingenuous.”
But Stone has made it clear she hasn’t completely given up on finding love, with the actress saying she’s willing to wait for the companionship she really wants.
She then delivered a blistering assessment of how women in Hollywood can be labeled as ‘difficult’ – claiming the label can be applied when actresses refuse to sleep with people they are expected to.
When asked directly if she considers herself a “difficult actress,” Stone replies, “I’m a super professional.” I’m not difficult, but you get the term ‘difficult’ when sometimes you don’t have sex with people they want you to have sex with.
‘You understand the term, you are difficult. Am I that difficult? Most of it.”
She added: “I’m the toughest. I think my sexuality is reserved for people I really care about.”

Is Hollywood’s obsession with sex and labels damaging real relationships and women’s careers?
Her comments come as Stone’s decades-long feud with her Sliver co-star Billy Baldwin has publicly erupted again – although she did not make the comments in response to him.
Baldwin, 63, declared this week that Stone was the only actress he would “never work with again” as he reflected on their difficult experiences making the 1993 erotic thriller.
The pair had previously clashed over Stone’s claim that late producer Robert Evans pressured her to sleep with Baldwin in an effort to improve their on-screen chemistry.
Stone first wrote about the alleged incident without identifying those involved in her 2021 memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice.
She later mentioned Evans and Baldwin during a 2024 appearance on Louis Theroux’s podcast, claiming the producer told her that sleeping with her co-star would improve his performance and “save the movie.”
Baldwin hit back fiercely at the time and has now revisited their relationship, claiming this week that tensions on set became so high that he once asked producers if he could avoid kissing Stone while filming a love scene.
He also said that Evans had separately suggested to him that sleeping with Stone could improve their chemistry.
Stone has long claimed that sexism damaged her career after she became one of Hollywood’s biggest sex symbols after Basic Instinct.
The actress, who earned an Oscar nomination for her performance in Martin Scorsese’s Casino in 1995, has previously suggested that being considered outspoken or “difficult” contributed to the paucity of major roles offered to her afterward.
