Roger Federer has sent a strong message to Lleyton Hewitt’s 17-year-old son Cruz after he was caught flirting with his twin daughters earlier this year.
Last month it was reported that Cruz became very close to Roger’s daughter Myla, 17, and her twin sister Charlene, and was considering moving to Switzerland to be closer to them and further his budding tennis career.
Now the 45-year-old former world champion has reportedly sat down with the teenage tennis prodigy to give some clear advice on what it takes to reach the top of the sport.
“Roger really believes Cruz has the potential to push the envelope in the coming years,” an insider recently said New Idea Magazine.
“And it’s a two-way street, everyone knows how much respect Cruz has for Roger and that alongside his father he looks up to him as a true legend of the game, if not the undisputed GOAT.”
They added that Federer had taught Cruz the importance of keeping his eyes firmly on the prize, with tennis training remaining his “main focus” – and anything that could distract his attention from the court best kept under control.

‘The pressure can be enormous, Roger is open about that. For all his success, Roger would have done some things a little differently. “He is humble enough to share these guidelines with Cruz, seeing him as a true superstar in the making,” they said.
“But he doesn’t sugar coat some of his advice because he truly believes sacrifice is the key. Despite all the talent in the world, Cruz will have to grit his teeth if he wants to reach the top and stay there.”
And while Federer is reportedly firmly in Cruz’s corner, his message seems clear: with a potentially glittering tennis career ahead of him, the teenager must keep his eyes on the game.
Cruz is a rising star in the professional tennis world and currently holds a career ATP singles ranking of No. 354.
Last month, Cruz was spotted looking very cozy with Federer’s daughter Myla as they watched the US Open in New York.
The teens sat next to each other in the stands, giggling and smiling as they talked and watched something on each other’s phones.
They felt very comfortable in each other’s company and leaned towards each other as they shared a friendly moment.
Cruz, Myla and Charlene have been spotted together several times in recent months, including at the Australian Open in January, where he sat next to the sisters in the stands.

And the friendship seemed to go strong at Wimbledon, when Cruz was seen enthusiastically greeting the twins as he arrived for the junior boys’ final.
The trio’s joint appearances have generated a lot of interest given their extraordinary sporting pedigree, sparking rumors that Cruz and Myla could be an item.
“It makes sense that they would at least be friends. Cruz has always been close to Myla and her twin brother,” an insider recently shared Women’s Day.
“If they really are an item, then it would be a kind of relief for both parents because they all know that they grew up together with very similar values.”
The twins live with their father in Switzerland and Cruz is reportedly considering a move there.
However, his parents Lleyton, 45, and Bec, 43, are reportedly wary of him moving abroad, fearing ‘distractions’ could take his mind off tennis training.
The couple have three children: daughters Mia, 20, and Ava, 15, as well as son Cruz.
