Blake Lively is known for channeling her inner Barbie with her bright and bold outfits.
But on Friday it was her husband Ryan Reynolds’ turn to play dress-up.
The 39-year-old American actress posted a photo of the 49-year-old Canadian star wearing a knitted button-down shirt and glasses.
He dressed in a flat cap and, surprisingly, a handbag covered in daisy appliqués.
“He is my human, my buddy Barbie,” Lively wrote in a caption on her Instagram Story, to the sound of Barbie Girl by Aqua.
The 3ft dolls were especially popular in the 1990s, when Lively was still a child.

Her buzzy post coincides with the release of Reynolds’ new Apple TV movie, Mayday.
In it, Reynolds’ character (an American pilot) builds an unlikely friendship with an eccentric ex-KGB agent (Kenneth Branagh) who is obsessed with ’80s American culture.
This week, his comments about the decade seemed to irritate reality star Spencer Pratt.
Reynolds looked back on the 1980s as “tumultuous” and traumatic in a recent interview, prompting Pratt to label him an “instrument.”
He told Variety: “What’s interesting is that if you’re far enough away from a certain period, there’s always a wonderful feeling associated with it.
“It’s almost like soothing all the trauma with puppies and ice cream.”
Reynolds, born in 1976, spoke on the red carpet at AMC Lincoln Square in New York City on Tuesday night and summed up what he thought we often gloss over.

The actress’s post comes after Candace Owens shared last week about her random encounter with Lively’s It Ends with Us co-star Justin Baldoni, following their long legal battle

He explained: “The 80s were a brutal, brutal time for people. It was a mess and people forget about that. It was a huge battle. Sociopolitical tensions everywhere. We were still quite fresh from a Cuban missile crisis, which only happened fifteen to twenty years ago.”
“It’s a tumultuous period, but when you look back on it now you’re like, ‘Oh yeah. Top pistol. Cocaine!’ Like, “No!” It was really scary.’
With that in mind, the star suggested that as we look back on 2026 and this era, we would pick the “big items that culturally didn’t really leave the footprint that we thought they would have.”
Explaining that many of the things felt like a mix from decades before, while the previous decade was their “own thing,” he predicted that the “COVID era” would be viewed with rose-tinted glasses.
He exclaimed, “We’re living in the damn salad days. We just don’t know.’

Lively’s post comes after Candace Owens shared last week about her random encounter with Justin Baldoni, 42, and made a joke about Lively.
“There was about a 1 in 100 million chance that I ran into Justin Baldoni at an airport in Iceland on Friday afternoon,” the 37-year-old political commentator captioned a selfie of her cuddling with the actor. ‘Just incredible.’
She added the hashtag #Cousins as a nod to her support of Baldoni amid his public feud with his It Ends with Us co-star Lively.
“NO ONE messes with my cousin,” Owens added.
In another subtle jab at Lively, Owens posted the photo to her Instagram Stories, accompanied by the image featuring the Taylor Swift song My Tears Ricochet.
It Ends with Us earned $148 million at the domestic box office and $350 million worldwide, but the goodwill the film garnered was overshadowed by the stars’ allegations.
The song was used in It Ends With Us and Lively and Swift were previously close friends before their high-profile feud.
On Wednesday, a judge in New York ruled that she will get only five percent ($400,000) of the amount she sought to recover ($8 million) for defending herself against Baldoni’s $400 million defamation lawsuit.
The judge said the hours Lively charged for her lawyers were “unreasonable” and criticized the “discrepancies” in the expenses she tried to claim.
The court’s ruling came months after the same judge dismissed most of the claims in Lively’s sexual harassment case against her It Ends With Us co-star and they agreed to settle the case without any money changing hands.
Judge Lewis Liman had previously dismissed Baldoni’s defamation countersuit against Lively, but he did allow her to seek legal fees related solely to defending that action.
Lively sued Baldoni and his production company Wayfarer Studios in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment on the set of the film and defamation.
Baldoni responded the following month with the $400 million lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds and the New York Times, which first published her claims.
Last October, a judge dismissed Baldoni’s case, and in May this year, after a judge dismissed most of Lively’s claims, she agreed to settle her claim.
