Wheel Of Fortune announcer Jim Thornton was suspended by Sony Pictures Television Studios on Tuesday TMZ.
In a statement to the publication, Sony said: “We have recently been made aware of allegations regarding Jim Thornton. He has been suspended from Wheel of Fortune and we are in the process of being reassigned while we conduct a thorough investigation.”
Notably, the statement did not provide any indication of what allegations had been made against Thornton.
However, TMZ reports that the investigation stems from a flight Thornton took in May, during which another passenger allegedly complained about him to a flight attendant.
The situation was apparently so serious that the plane’s pilot arranged for police to wait for Thornton as soon as he reached the gate.
Thornton, who was pictured wearing a Wheel Of Fortune jacket in a photo from the flight, was reportedly questioned by officers before being allowed to continue.
