The non-binary actor, 30, is just one of many stars who have descended on Venice for the annual film festival.
The festival continues until next Saturday, when the prizes will be announced.
The opening night movie was Danny Boyle’s ink, an adaptation of the critically acclaimed play about the early years of Rupert Murdoch – played by Guy Pearce – and his takeover of The Sun newspaper. Jack O’Connell and Claire Foy also star.

This time he will be at the festival to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also a producer for Furies.
Other expected stars include Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis, Rooney and Kate Mara, Robert Pattinson, Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Pamela Anderson, Sam Rockwell, John Malkovich, Louis Garrel, Cho Yeo-jeong and Ellen Burstyn, who will also receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
As far as awards go, perhaps the most anticipated is Martin McDonagh’s dark comedy Wild Horse Nine, starring Rockwell and Malkovich as a pair of CIA agents before the 1973 Chilean coup.
Emma is best known for their portrayal of the late Diana, Princess of Wales in Netflix drama The Crown, who moved to the seaside town from London in 2023 and has since become immersed in Margate’s life.
“I really love it,” they told Jessie and Lennie Ware Table manners podcast of the city and their favorite local haunts.
‘Curve Coffee is great. It borders the town, just above the main street, on a small square. Curve makes the best kimchi sandwich you will ever try, it’s so good.’
Such is Margate’s appeal among curious creatives: the city has been playfully nicknamed ‘Shoreditch-On-Sea’, after the infamous hipster enclave in East London.

But the actor said they avoid nights out in the English capital and instead prefer the proximity of restaurants and bars on their doorstep.
“I’m really bad at eating out in London, I never do that,” they said. ‘I do it in Margate, because everything is very close.
‘Where I always go is High Dive. They started with a little place on the harbor arm, with tacos and enchiladas and stuff like that. It’s so good. They make the most insane spicy margaritas.”
