A sporty teenage girl has died after collapsing at a cricket club in Cornwall.
Amélia Jones, 14, was rushed to hospital by air ambulance last Thursday evening after collapsing at Grampound Road Cricket Club, near St Austell.
She was pronounced dead a short time later.
Amélia has been described as ‘intelligent’ and ‘talented’ in heartbreaking tributes fundraising launched to support her family amounts to more than £19,000.
The page, set up by her uncle Sean Jones, said she was “a much loved daughter, sister, friend and the beloved twin brother” to her sister.
“She had the most beautiful smile and brought so much happiness to those around her,” it continued.
Amélia enjoyed sports including netball and cricket and was captain of Cornwall’s under-14 girls team against Glamorgan a week before her death.
She was an “exceptionally talented and academically gifted” student. She studied for her Grade 8 piano and clarinet exams and received support at school to gain additional GCSEs.

“Her passing has left an unimaginable void in the lives of all who knew and loved her,” her uncle said, adding that she will be “forever loved” and “forever remembered.”
Amélia’s organs were donated.
Mr Jones said his fundraiser will support his niece’s family in the short term, with any additional funds donated to a suitable charity.
Emergency services were called to Grampound Road Cricket Club last Thursday evening after reports that a young girl had collapsed.
The cricket club described the incident as ‘tragic’ and added that Amélia’s death was a medical incident.
A spokesperson for the cricket club said: ‘It is with great sadness that Grampound Road Cricket Club can confirm that a tragic incident took place on Thursday evening.
‘A teenage girl collapsed and was taken to hospital but has now sadly passed away. This is believed to be a medical incident not related to cricket.”
Club chairman Lewis Sanders added: ‘Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to her family, friends and all who knew and loved her at this unimaginably difficult time. We respect the family’s privacy and ask others to do the same.
‘We would also like to thank everyone who responded on Thursday evening, especially those who provided immediate first aid and the emergency services, including Cornwall Air Ambulance.’
