A manhunt has been launched for two women and a man who fled the scene of a collision nearby Edinburgh Airport where a man died.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the four-vehicle collision on the A8 Glasgow Road near Newbridge at 9.25am on Monday.
Officers received a report of an accident involving four cars. The 58-year-old driver of a gray Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four other people involved were taken to hospital for treatment and later released.
Police said two women and a man fled on foot from a gray Mercedes and specialist resources were deployed to track them.
Both sniffer dogs and helicopters were used in the searches on Monday. The A8 was closed while the investigation continued and did not reopen until 7pm.

Police launched an appeal for information on Tuesday as the search continues for the two women and men who fled the scene.
Inspector Thomas Mallinson said: “My thoughts are with the family of the person who has died at this incredibly difficult time.
“Our investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash, and it is vital that we trace the three people who left the area before police arrived.
‘I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this or who has information that could assist our investigation to contact us.
‘I would also ask anyone who was in the area and may have dashcam footage to get in touch if there is anything that could be relevant.’
A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said yesterday that three ambulances, two special operations response teams, a paramedic response unit and an intensive care paramedic had been dispatched.
Anyone with information about the crash, which involved a gray Mercedes A250, a black Renault Captur, a gray Skoda Karoq and a gray Hyundai i30, is asked to call 101 and quote reference 0756.
