Australian actress Ruby Rose has paid an emotional tribute to Hayden Panettiere, following the American star’s tragic death on Sunday at the age of 36.
The New York-born actress died on August 16 after going into cardiac arrest following a suspected overdose in a loft apartment in South Carolina.
Rose shared a social media tribute to Panettiere, posting a photo of the late actress alongside some bizarre words.
“Hayden, I beg you. No. My friend, no! WHO do we call? What’s going on?’ a distraught Rose, 40, wrote.
The pair never worked together on a production and moved in different social circles, so it is unclear how close they were or whether they had met.
It’s also unclear what exactly Ruby was referring to, though the message may have alluded to recent online discussions about Panettiere’s friendship with former co-star Michelle Trachtenberg, who died 18 months ago at the age of 39.

The former child stars famously shared the screen in Disney’s 2005 hit Ice Princess, playing unlikely best friends and competitive figure skaters.
In audio of a 911 call, a female dispatcher described the 36-year-old Heroes and Nashville star as suffering from “cardiac arrest.”
Moments later, a male dispatcher said Panettiere had apparently overdosed in the building.
Narcan was reportedly found in the apartment where Panettiere died after what authorities are investigating as a possible overdose.
An autopsy conducted by the Greenville County coroner also found that Panettiere found “no signs of trauma that would have contributed to death.”
Narcan, a nasal medication used to treat opioid overdoses, was also found on a mattress at the property, according to an unnamed source who spoke to TMZ.
Detectives confirmed to the Daily Mail that they responded to a 911 call yesterday afternoon from an “acquaintance” of the star, describing her as “unresponsive.”
Officers and paramedics performed chest compressions as they tried to save Panettiere’s life at the Judson Mill Lofts apartment complex.

It’s also unclear what Ruby is specifically referring to, but it could be a reference to recent online posts noting Panettiere’s tragic friendship with her former co-star Michelle Trachtenberg, who died just 18 months ago at the age of 39. (Pictured together in 2011)
But the actress, who would have turned 37 on Friday, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:32 p.m., just over 40 minutes after the first 911 call was made.
Police are investigating the death, but say the “preliminary investigation has revealed no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.”
The star and her real estate agent boyfriend Brian Hickerson are said to have flown from Los Angeles to South Carolina, where he is from, a day before she died.
Panettiere had an 11-year-old daughter named Kaya, but later gave full custody to her former fiancé, Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
In her last Instagram post on July 27, Panettiere shared a photo with her director and photographer friend Randall Slavin, captioning it, “Good times and good friends.”
The star began acting as a child, appearing in soap operas and then gaining wider recognition for her role in the 2000 sports drama Remember the Titans with Denzel Washington, and as the voice of Dot in Pixar’s 1998 film A Bug’s Life.
Panettiere later found fame playing cheerleader Claire Bennet in the superhero drama Heroes before starring as country singer Juliette Barnes in Nashville for six seasons.
