Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man fell to his death from a balcony.
Police were called to Salford shortly after midnight on Saturday following an incident at an address in Liverpool Street.
Emergency services attended and a man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but died in hospital the same evening.
A man has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, arrested on suspicion of murder and a second man has also been arrested on suspicion of murder. Both remain in police custody.
Chief Inspector Lee Gridley said the police investigation was “progressing at a rapid pace”.
He said: “Firstly, our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends as they mourn the death of their loved one.
‘We now have two men in custody and they are being questioned by detectives.
“The investigation is progressing rapidly and we have a team of detectives working to establish the full circumstances leading to this tragic incident.

A cordon and a police tent were set up at the scene. Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the Liverpool Street area of Salford at the time of the incident
‘We understand that incidents of this nature may cause concern within the community; However, we believe this is an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.”
A Home Office post-mortem will take place today.
