The 48-year-old actress, who serves as the festival’s jury chair, oozed confidence as she posed in the custom-made Celine one-shoulder dress, which featured a voluminous skirt and a short train.
To boost her height, she added pointy black pumps, with Maggie undoubtedly turning heads as she strutted across the carpet.
The Donnie Darko star further accessorized her glamorous look with a small gold clutch and dark sunglasses – both of which she set aside to pose for waiting photographers.
Maggie’s red carpet appearance comes after she complained about the lack of female directors in the competition during the opening day of the 83rd festival.
At a press conference, she asked, “Could it be possible that the things that women, who have had a different experience of living in the world, want to make films about are not always considered high art?” Who decides what is good?’

Meanwhile, jury chairwoman Maggie shared her thoughts on the power of cinema earlier this week.
‘When I go to the movies, I’m not interested in perfection, no matter how tempting that is. My favorite films are those where a filmmaker invites me into their minds and the minds of their collaborators and lets me look around,” she said.
‘I am interested in interacting with something human, even if that human has a completely different experience or point of view than I do.
‘I’m also not someone who believes that we can only make art about certain things and by certain people.
‘I want to know. I want to be shaken, to be woken up. I want to change my mind,” she continued.
“I think when we tell stories about even the most perverted, corrupt characters, we can find empathy for the corruption and perversity all around us, and even – and this is of course the scariest of all – inside, I don’t know about you, but there, but for the grace of God, go I.”
The Venice Film Festival’s red carpet events kicked off on Wednesday with the premiere of British director Danny Boyle’s Ink, a drama about the rise of media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

It closes on September 12 with the Italian costume drama Dio Ride (God Laughs), written and directed by Giovanni Veronesi.
American actress and filmmaker Maggie will chair the jury for the main competition.
She is joined by Tunisian director and screenwriter Kaouther Ben Hania, English composer Daniel Blumberg, Italian film critic Francesco Casetti, French director Xavier Giannoli, Afghan director Shahrbanoo Sadat and Hong Kong director Johnnie To.
Stars expected to attend this year include Oasis’ Noel and Liam Gallagher, sisters Rooney and Kate Mara, Robert Pattinson, Penélope Cruz and husband Javier Bardem, Pamela Anderson, Sam Rockwell, John Malkovich, French actor Louis Garrel, South Korean actress Cho Yeo-jeong and American actress Ellen Burstyn, who will also receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Gallagher brothers will be on hand to promote their documentary Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger, which follows the band’s 2025 reunion tour.
