Kirstie Allsopp reveals she was taken to hospital by air ambulance to undergo surgery after a nasty fall during her family holiday

Kirstie Allsopp has revealed she was rushed to hospital to undergo leg surgery after a nasty fall during her recent family holiday.

The Location, Location, Location star, 55, has shared photos of her bandaged foot after she was airlifted to hospital while on the beach in Cornwall following a fall on a ‘muddy step’.

Kirstie shared a photo of her face covered in tubes as she prepared for surgery on her leg.

The presenter told her followers she had enjoyed a day at the beach to celebrate her birthday, and said it took “a whole bunch of people” to help her track down her location so an air ambulance could take her to hospital.

She captioned the post: ‘Almost every year since Oscar was born we have celebrated my birthday at Meadowgate, one of my favorite places on earth.

‘We had a picnic on the beach at Welcombe Mouth, a swim and a walk back to the house for some cake. Unfortunately, I slipped on a muddy spot on the steep trail, and it took a lot of people to get me to the hospital.

The Location, Location, Location star has shared photos of her bandaged foot after she was taken to hospital while on the beach in Cornwall after falling on a ‘muddy step’

‘After waiting for a while while poor Oscar ran as fast as he could to get help, and the paramedics from @rnli_bude_lifeboat and @cornwallairamb tracked me down (I ❤️ #whatthreewords) I was given a huge amount of painkillers so I neglected to ask anyone for their social media details, but if this post is wrong I hope someone will tell me.

“I remember Chris and Jeremy and I think there was a Lee, and there was definitely a young Jake in the ambulance.

‘But according to Ben and the boys, I have many more people to thank. Only God knows what I was like when I flew as high as a kite!

‘Everyone at Barnstaple Hospital was wonderful, friendly and caring, so many lovely people went above and beyond.

‘They operated on my leg and I’ll be home soon. It will be a boot and crutches for a while, but I feel very fortunate that it was possible to get me to the hospital so quickly, and I have a job that I can do on crutches.

‘Not a birthday I will soon forget, and again: THANK YOU to everyone who was involved in my care.’

Kirstie married property mogul Ben Anderson in January 2025 after more than 20 years together and they are parents to sons Bay, 20, and Oscar, 18.

The broadcaster recently reflected on her time presenting Location, Location, Location with her long-time co-host Phil Spencer, and joked that she was his ‘second choice’ for the job.

The presenter told her followers she had enjoyed a day at the beach to celebrate her birthday, and said it took ‘a whole bunch of people’ to help her track down her location after the fall.

The real estate guru showed off the x-ray of her injured knee and said she would be home ‘soon’ after undergoing surgery on her leg

During this morning, she said: “There was an Italian girl with legs up to here,” before pointing to her upper chest.

“Phil really wanted her, but the problem was her accent was so strong.”

Shaking his head, Phil replied: ‘That’s not entirely true,’ but Kirstie continued: ‘And then there was this really lovely girl who was a real estate agent, but I think she was probably a bit intimidated by the whole thing.

“It kind of came to me by default, we did a non-transferable pilot, thank God it’ll never make it to the air – and we both thought, ‘Oh, that was nice, but we have real jobs.’ Then they had the show made and asked us to present it!’

The duo also reflected on the shock from show fans and contributors alike at how involved they are in finding and purchasing real estate behind the scenes of the show.

Kirstie and Phil joked that their picture was on a number of fridges after helping families and couples find their dream homes across the country.

Kirstie said: ‘It’s so wonderful to have a job that means every time you meet someone you can have a conversation about something that’s really important to them. It’s a great privilege.’

Phil added: ‘I’ve made several revisits, which we love to do when we go back a few years later, and it’s really special to find a photo of us and the crew on the day we filmed and the day we found their house.’

“I was speaking to an estate agent on Friday, I was negotiating a deal we had done, and at the end I said, ‘Save my number, if there’s a problem call me’… and he said, ‘I thought it was all fake,'” Kirstie added.

To which Phil chimed in again: “I had a few, we had three days of filming and we were sitting in the pub at the end of the show and we were discussing tactics and value and negotiation, and I picked up my phone to call the agent.

“They said, ‘Wait a minute, you’re not going to do that, are you?’

Kirstie concluded: ‘People think Phil and I end every working day in a pub pretending to have a phone conversation!’

The par also raised eyebrows when Phil failed to attend Kirstie’s wedding in January 2025.

As he tied the knot with property magnate Ben Anderson in a secret ceremony at Grosvenor Chapel in Mayfair, the star’s co-host was noticeably absent from the festivities.

However, it was later revealed that the event was so heavily shrouded in secrecy that even guests were unaware they were attending a wedding until the last minute.

Phil and Kirstie said that although they have been good friends for 25 years, they never hang out outside of work.

Speaking in an interview with The TelegraphKirstie admitted: ‘We don’t socialize because we work together so much.’

Phil added: ‘But we are very fond of each other. There is no one else who has had this experience. I have made Kirstie one of the most important people in my life.’

The pair have been part of each other’s lives through the biggest moments, as Kirstie added: ‘Through the most important parts of our lives we have been there for each other. I think Phil was one of the first people I ever told I was pregnant.”
