How popular is your couple name? Interactive tool shows who people with your name often marry

From Taylor and Travis to Victoria and David, many celebrities have names that seem to belong together.

But have you ever wondered which names people with your name are most likely to marry?

A new interactive tool called ‘Who Wed Who’ reveals who people with your first or last name end up with.

The tool is the brainchild of American software engineer Riley Waltz, who based it on the names of more than six million married couples in the US.

“I extracted the names of 6.4 million couples from The Knot, a popular American marriage registry,” he explained.

‘Type a first or last name and see who people with that name are actually married to.’

The tool has already proven popular on social media, with many users using X to share their results.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had a relationship with Emily, Taylor, Sarah or Ashley. Apparently a mistake on my part,” one user joked.

To try the tool, visit Waltz’s website hereand start by typing your first or last name into the box and clicking “Search.”

Within seconds, you’ll see lists of who people with your name marry most often, as well as the names they marry surprisingly often.

For example, if your first name is Rose, you will find that people with your name often marry men named John, Michael, David, Chris, and Daniel.

They also have a 162x higher chance of marrying a Frantz, a 96x higher chance of ending up with a Mayme, and a 53x higher chance of settling down with a Claudio.

If, like me, your last name is Best, the tool will tell you that people with your last name tend to marry people with the last names Smith, Brown, Johnson, White, and Miller.

According to the tool, Bests also marry Axtells (299x), Suggs (95x), Bledsoes (63x) and Prescotts (54x) surprisingly often.

Additionally, the tool reveals the most popular couple names in the US, as well as the most popular last name pairs.

Jessica & Michael top the list for first name couples, ahead of Michael & Sarah, Ashley & Michael, Amanda & Michael, and Jennifer & Michael.

Based on data on married American couples from The Knot

When it comes to surnames, Jones & Smith are the most common combination, ahead of Johnson & Smith, Kim & Lee, Brown & Smith, and Smith & Williams.

Waltz shared the tool on X, where many users rushed to try it for themselves.

“My wife’s name comes first before my name. What have you done?’ one user tweeted.

Another said: ‘My name is on my girlfriend’s ‘surprisingly often’ list. You have given me a great blessing, many blessings for your home.”

And someone added: ‘What a fun project! I married a jay – seventeen times more likely than coincidence.”

The news comes shortly after new data from the Office for National Statistics (US) revealed the most common days to be born in Britain.

Statistics show that between 1995 and 2025, September 26 was the most common day to be born.

In fact, the 10 most common birthdays all fall in September: 26, 25, 27, 23, 30, 19, 22, 24, 18, 29.

With a little quick math, you’ll find that this shows that more babies will be conceived in the coming weeks Christmas than at any other time of the year.

The Christmas season itself, on the other hand, is the least common time for a birthday.

Boxing Day (December 26) is the day you are least likely to have your birthday, ahead of Christmas Day (December 25) and New Year’s Day (January 1).
