Holly Hagan has warned festival goers after her sister died of an accidental drug overdose.

Darci Rose Gibson died aged 19 after a night out in Manchester in October after taking an ‘accidental overdose’ of crystal MDMA, which led to multi-organ failure.

There are a number of festivals taking place across the UK this weekend, including Reading and Leeds Festival, The Big Feastival and Electric Picnic.

Holly, 34, took to Instagram on Saturday and wrote: ‘I haven’t stopped thinking about the fact that someone might not come back from the festivals.

‘When I see the videos of people who walk onto the camp grounds so happily for the weekend of their lives.

“I guess I hope to God you all come home. On average, five people die every year at UK festivals and the vast majority of these deaths are MDMA-related.

“Nobody thinks it’s going to happen to them until it does.

‘I know my sister’s death will not be the last of this kind and it is such a heartbreaking thought that other families will have to go through what we went through.

‘Please be careful. Take care of your friends and don’t show off. It’s not worth the risk.’

Holly was devastated when her sister died last year. At the time, she paid tribute to paramedics and MRI staff “for giving my sister the absolute best chance.”

She wrote, “It is with immeasurable sadness and sorrow that our little girl, my sister Darci Rose, passed away peacefully while holding my hand, surrounded by family and her closest friends.

‘She was never in pain. The past four days have been something I hope no family will ever experience. We are traumatized in every sense of the word.’

Thanking all the clinicians involved in her care, she added: ‘Thanks to all of you, we had the opportunity to hold her hand, stroke her hair and feel her heart beat for the last time.

“We will be forever grateful for the way you cared for her and us throughout this unimaginable process.

“Darci is so beautiful and she honestly didn’t even realize it.”

Holly, who starred in reality TV show Geordie Shore, later revealed Darci saved a stranger’s life by donating her heart.

In an interview with Paul C Brunson on his podcast We Need To Talk, Holly said: ‘I’ll be very honest. It was a selfish decision.

‘We wanted her life to mean something. We wanted to be able to say that she saved a life, as if it were for us.

‘That was to give us peace. A lot of people say, ‘Oh, you’re so selfless and brave.’ That wasn’t the case, we wanted her to have achieved this.

‘And that it makes us feel better. And three weeks later we found out by letter that she had indeed saved a life, and that she had saved a woman’s life.

“And it was such an honor to be a part of that.

“As terrible as the situation was, I am so proud of her and she has achieved more in her short 19 years than many others will achieve.

“And I’m so happy that, you know, the day that woman got that phone call will have been the happiest day of her life.

“And it was the worst day of ours. But something good came out of it. And someone’s children didn’t have to lose their parent. Because of Darci.’

Holly revealed the ‘weirdest’ thing about the organ donation.

She said, “Darci had a tattoo here under her ribs, so over her heart, and it said, ‘live where your heart finds life.’

“And that’s such a strange tattoo for a 19-year-old. Live where your heart finds life.

‘And that was the only organ she could donate. And now she hopefully lives where her heart found life. Honestly, there are so many chills I can tell you that have happened since her passing.”

Holly insists her sister was ‘not reckless’. She was just a young girl who made a “silly mistake” but is urging others to think twice before turning to recreational drugs.
