Lily Tomlin stepped out feeling dejected on her birthday on Tuesday, just a week after the death of her 9 To 5 co-star Dolly Parton.
When the comedian and actress turned 87, she was spotted visiting a fitness studio in Los Angeles.
The Grace and Frankie star wore an all-white ensemble with a pair of matching Converse for the outing on her special day.
Despite the celebration, Tomlin, who is married to writer and producer Jane Wagner, cut a somber figure following the death of Parton, who first met in the 1970s.
The pair became close friends while filming 9 To 5 in 1980, and remained friends for the next few decades.
The pair appeared in the beloved workplace comedy alongside Jane Fonda, 88.
After Parton’s death, Fonda said she was “devastated” by the legend’s passing, while Ms. Tomlin said she was “at a loss for words.”
Parton had frequently expressed her hopes for a 9 to 5 reunion with Tomlin and Fonda.
However, the trio reunited a few years ago for the documentary Still Working 9 to 5.
Producer brothers Larry and Gary Lane told the story Extra that as of 1980 there was still ‘magic’ and that the ‘friendship lasted the rest of their lives.’
Moreover, the actresses reunited in 2017 to announce one of the winners of the Emmy Awards.
They joined stars like Alec Baldwin – who won an award for his impersonation of the president – to take down Donald Trump.

Referring to their roles as office girls in 9 To 5, Miss Fonda said, “In 1980… we refused to be controlled by a sexist, selfish, lying, hypocritical bigot.”
Miss Tomlin said: ‘And in 2017 we still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, selfish, lying, hypocritical bigot.’
Ms. Parton had privately battled cancer in the months leading up to her death and was forced to cancel her Las Vegas residency in May.
At the time, she said this was due to ongoing digestive and immune system problems, which left her unable to perform such demanding shows.
She died last Tuesday at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee, “surrounded by loved ones,” her representative confirmed in a statement.
