Summer vacation, Christmas breaks with the family, long weekends away… Before you know it, your entire annual leave has been eaten up.
Luckily, there are ways to make the most of your 2027 vacation dates – it just takes careful planning.
Next year there will be eight public holidays, starting with New Year’s Day on January 1 and Good Friday on March 26. Easter Monday, March 29, beginning of May Day on May 3 and spring break on May 31.
August 30 marks the summer holidays, December 27 for Christmas Day and December 28 for Boxing Day, as both fall on a weekend.

Easter is just around the corner, and with the egg hunts and chocolate eating on the horizon, it’s worth making the most of it.
By using just four vacation days, you can get a total of ten days off.
The holidays fall from Friday, March 26 to Monday, March 29, so if you book another four days off from March 30 to April 2, you automatically get a nice bit of time away from the office.
The May holidays also lend themselves to the luxury of a long weekend. Take four days off on April 30 or May 28 and only use one day of leave.
As for the summer holidays, you can book Friday, August 27 and August 31 to get away for five days for the price of two.
Christmas is also worth planning strategically.
If you book December 24 and Wednesday 29, you will be out of the office for six days.
If you have sufficient holiday leave left, you can also take December 30 and 31 as leave – a total of 11 days off.
Research published last year revealed this which week most people have booked during the summer holidays.
By analyzing data from more than 230,000 annual leave requests for the summer of 2025, a study found that The most popular week for booking was the week that started August 4, with 17.51 percent of annual leave requests submitted during this period.
The second most popular holiday date in August is the week beginning August 18, with 16.72 percent of annual leave requests submitted.
The week starting on July 28 comes in third place.
And in fourth place, the week starting August 11, with 16.55 percent and 16.53 annual leave requests respectively.
