Tragedy as boy, 6, reported missing at Teralba in Lake Macquarie is found dead in neighbour’s pool

Shortly after being reported missing, a young boy was tragically found in the swimming pool of a nearby home.

Police searched the area in Teralba – a suburb in the Lake Macquarie region of NSW – following reports that a six-year-old boy had gone missing about 3.15pm on Thursday.

Shortly afterwards they found the body of an unconscious child in the swimming pool of a nearby property.

The officer at the scene began CPR on the boy, with NSW Ambulance also called to the scene.

Attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful.

NSW Police say the child has yet to be formally identified, but they believe the body is that of a six-year-old boy.

A crime scene has been cordoned off and police are launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will also be prepared for the coroner.
