Tom Cruise's sex life crisis: Insiders reveal actor's secret 'frustration' at 64... real reason why Ana de Armas affair collapsed... his lover's name he can't bear... and Victoria Beckham's failed interventions

Tom Cruise may be the ultimate action hero, but sources say he’s faced with a rather tricky real-life Mission: Impossible: saving both his love life and his Hollywood status.

The ever-youthful star just turned 64 and is reportedly flying solo, with no glamorous leading lady on his arm and only a few whispers reconnecting him with Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova after their brief fling in 2023.

Meanwhile, his former flames seem to have gotten the memo about moving on — and then some.

Ana de Armas, his latest amore, packs on the PDA with musician Beto Montenegro; Katie Holmes, 47, is in love with artist Jason Bard Yarmosky, nine years her junior; Nicole Kidman enjoys the Portofino sun with new boyfriend Michael Reinstein and Penélope Cruz has been happily married to Javier Bardem for 16 years.

Now insiders have told the Daily Mail that Cruise is somewhat ‘frustrated’ by his single status, no doubt not helped by the sight of his apparently blossoming exes – and why insiders hope he finds love before his next film is released.

“Tom is frustrated that his love life has not been going smoothly as he is often lonely,” a source close to the star told the Daily Mail. ‘He’s not desperate for love, even though his good friend Victoria Beckham is always trying to set him up with something young.

Fresh off his 64th birthday, the ever-youthful star is said to be flying solo as a series of former flames, including Ana de Armas (pictured when they were dating), move on in a very public manner.

‘But I do know that Tom really wants to get married again and have it for the last time, he wants a solid relationship. Like everyone else, he wants to be in love.”

It’s clear that finding love isn’t a problem for his exes.

In Formentera, his latest romance, actress de Armas, 38, was photographed packing on the PDA with her new man Montenegro, the 37-year-old frontman of Venezuelan band Rawayana, during a sun-soaked Spanish getaway.

It’s a far cry from the nine-month romance she shared with Cruise, which began with sightings in London in February 2025 and later included private jet getaways, David Beckham’s 50th birthday and a handful of getaways in Vermont.

Neither confirmed the relationship, but insiders said the attraction became too messy to juggle their professional ambitions – so they opted for friendship over fireworks. According to our source, “It’s hard for Tom to see her move on,” but, they added, “he’s happy for her when she’s happy.”

And while De Armas turned heads in Formentera, Holmes gave her own rather sharp post-Tom update in New York.

Cruise’s third ex-wife – after Mimi Rogers and Kidman – and his daughter’s mother, Suri, have enjoyed a new romance with artist Yarmosky – and gave it the ultimate shiny seal of approval by going Instagram official.

Holmes and Cruise became one of Hollywood’s most watched celebrity couples at the time, following their whirlwind courtship in 2005, their lavish Italian wedding and the birth of Suri in 2006.

Yet the fairytale ended abruptly in 2012 when Holmes filed for divorce, bringing the era of ‘TomKat’ to a quick and surprising end.

“What happened to Katie Holmes was a public humiliation,” our source said. ‘I think it’s hard for him to see her move on, but the truth is no one really knows, he doesn’t like talking about Katie. Everyone around him knows not to bring up her name.”

They said it’s “also hard for him” that Suri is dropping his last name: “It’s crushing.”

Cruise has not been photographed publicly with his daughter since 2012, and reports say the pair have long been estranged.

Speaking of children, Cruise also shares Isabella and Connor with Kidman – the Australian Oscar winner who once looked every bit the perfect Hollywood co-star before their marriage became one of the most scrutinized breakups of the era.

The former couple met while filming Days of Thunder, married on Christmas Eve 1990, and adopted Isabella and Connor during their 11-year marriage.

Their divorce in 2001 stunned Hollywood, and Kidman has since said she married Cruise young and “fell madly in love – despite warnings that it could derail her career.”

“He wishes everything would have gone well with Nicole, but they fought a lot and then they got super competitive,” our source said. ‘Nicole wanted a top career and worked very hard for it, she should not be messed with.

Cruise’s ex Nicole Kidman reportedly moved on with private equity investor Michael Reinstein (Kidman and Cruise in 1998)

“They would have epic shouting matches, the neighbors in their New York City cottage would have to use earplugs. These days he’s just in awe of her career choices and her Oscar, and in a strange way he’s proud of her. But he doesn’t miss her.’

After Cruise, Kidman found a very different kind of leading man in country singer Keith Urban.

The couple married in 2006 and welcomed daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, providing a united front through nearly two decades of award shows, red carpets and Nashville-meets-Hollywood glamour.

But even that marriage came to an end in 2025, when their divorce was finalized in January.

Kidman has since spoken about “embracing love” in her next chapter, while reports have linked her to private equity investor Reinstein.

The actress and Reinstein were first spotted in close conversation outside a hotel in Portofino before he was later photographed picking her up from a Los Angeles airport in a black Ferrari.

Yet neither Kidman nor Reinstein have publicly confirmed that they are a couple, leaving the actress’ Italian interlude tantalizingly undefined.

But the one Cruise still pursues would be Cruz.

The one who is still pursuing Cruise would be Penélope Cruz (photo). “He was really in love with her and wanted to marry her and have children together,” our source said. “She dumped him and he was heartbroken. She was the one who got away.”

The couple met in 2001, after his divorce, while filming Vanilla Sky, but later split in early 2004, with representatives at the time confirming that the split was mutual and amicable due to career pressures and busy schedules. Cruz married her current husband, actor Bardem, in 2010.

“He was really in love with her and wanted to marry her and have children together,” our source said. ‘She left him because he was just too famous, they couldn’t live a normal life. She dumped him and he was heartbroken. She was the one who got away.”

So Cruise has had to watch an extraordinary procession of former partners move on with newer, often younger or completely different leading men.

It begs the obvious question: Can Hollywood’s most famous bachelor settle down?

“Tom has trouble keeping a wife because he puts his career first,” our insider said. ‘It’s all about making films, he’s obsessed with the industry. He is also very committed to Scientology, which could be a problem for some women who don’t follow the religion.”

A separate insider added: ‘Tom’s greatest love is making films and that gets in the way of everything else he does, whether it’s relationships, friendships or business plans. Being in a relationship with Tom is something that many women cannot handle or want.’

For now, he is “completely focused on his film Digger and campaigning for an Oscar.”

After four decades of high-octane star power, he has generated more than $13.3 billion worldwide and earned three acting Oscar nominations (for Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire and Magnolia) plus a Best Picture nomination as producer of Top Gun: Maverick.

His next big test is Digger (above) in which Cruise plays Digger Rockwell, a powerful Southern oil baron whose actions unleash a global catastrophe – but there are fears it won’t land with fans.

Insiders have revealed that Victoria Beckham has tried to meet Cruise on dates

Digger will be his next big test, a darkly comedic disaster drama from Oscar-winning director Alejandro G. Inarritu, in which Cruise plays Digger Rockwell, a powerful Southern oil baron whose actions unleash a global catastrophe.

The October release is his first non-franchise film since 2017, and marks a return to the more dramatic work that helped establish him as a leading man.

But there are concerns it won’t land.

“The trailer didn’t get as many views on YouTube as Tom had hoped,” said our insider, claiming Cruise’s unrecognizable appearance could hamper the film’s reception.

“Marketing teams say fans either don’t recognize him with the prosthetics, the gray hair, the big belly, or fans just don’t care and don’t know what Digger is about.”

They continued: ‘He will be doing a lot of press for the film and will be on the road a lot to drum up interest in the film, so look for lots of TV interviews and magazine covers in September.

‘Hopefully he will have a new girlfriend when the film comes out, because it will help with publicity.’

Although Cruise has spent his life making impossible missions seem easy, a romantic comeback could prove to be his toughest assignment.

The Daily Mail has contacted Cruise representatives for comment.
