Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway have announced that they will star in an upcoming sequel to the 1990 film Days of Thunder.
The 64-year-old leading man and 43-year-old Odyssey star revealed the news with a promotional photo and video shared via social media.
The snapshot showed the Hollywood vets leaning against a green and yellow race car at the Daytona International Speedway.
Cruise, who produces with Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper, will reprise his role as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle, and Hathaway will play the team owner and engineer.
The action/sports film will hit theaters on June 2, 2028 and will be filmed for Imax and will also be seen in Dolby theaters, 4DX and premium widescreen formats, according to Term.
Cruise met ex-wife Nicole Kidman on the set of the original film.

Paramount Pictures is producing the new film, Will Staples will write the script and Jonathan Levine will direct.
Cruise and Hathaway joined forces in a short and light-hearted video, in which the actress warmly greeted viewers with a “Hey!” while leaning against the camera.
They wore blue jeans, with the actor wearing a light blue button-up shirt with cuffed sleeves. Hathaway wore a similar shirt, hers in a beige shade.
Her pregnancy bump was covered up as the star waits for baby number three with husband Adam Shulman.
And she wore a matching cowboy hat when she and her co-star finally stepped away from the camera and walked toward the parked vehicle, which had a sticker reading: “Days of Thunder 2, Summer 2028.”

She joked, “I’m going to have this baby, and then we’re going to make this movie.”
Cruise approved: “That’s a good idea. You have the baby and then we’ll make the movie.’
The original Days of Thunder was directed by the late Tony Scott and earned $82.6 million at the domestic box office, and took in $157.9 million worldwide.
Cary Elwes, Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid, Caroline Williams and Michael Rooker also appeared on screen.

Earlier this year, Elwes said he was impressed by Cruise’s dedication during filming.
The actors performed the majority of their own stunts while portraying race car drivers in the film.
Elwes shared with Entertainment Tonight (ET) that Cruise crashed his car into a wall on the first day, and his last words before the collision were, “Hello wall.”
“Tom actually put a car against the wall on his first day of driving, and these things aren’t cheap,” he recalls. “And he was so funny on film.”
Elwes also praised the Hollywood icon’s professionalism.
‘He’s a great guy. “He really is so much fun to work with, so professional and so supportive of everyone,” he said.
