There’s nothing like someone else’s wedding to make you think about your own relationship.
And the lavish Montecito wedding of singer Finneas O’Connell and his bride Claudia Sulewski was apparently no different — as an A-list couple in attendance appeared to be in a back-and-forth.
Video footage from the wedding showed Justin Bieber and his model wife Hailey in what appeared to be a tense conversation. with Hailey gesturing dramatically at one point before seemingly walking away from her husband.
Coming just two weeks before their own eighth wedding anniversary, the apparent flare-up raised eyebrows after a turbulent 2025 for the couple — as fans worried about Justin’s well-being and speculated about the state of his marriage — and sparked new theories that trouble could be brewing behind the scenes.
But friends say the Biebers, who welcomed son Jack Blues two years ago, are just a passionate couple who fight as fiercely as they love.
“Hailey bickers with Justin all the time, so any fight at a wedding was probably just a minor flare-up,” a source told the Daily Mail. “They are madly in love and committed to each other, make no mistake about it, and ultimately want another child.”
“Hailey bickers with Justin all the time, so any fight at a wedding was probably just a minor flare-up,” a source told Daily Mail after Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey had a tense exchange at Finneas O’Connell’s wedding on Saturday.

Another insider insisted that the seemingly frosty moment wasn’t a sign of a rough patch, but just a glimpse into the high-voltage dynamic that has kept the Biebers together.
“Justin and Hailey often get into fights because Justin is vulnerable and she knows how to push his buttons,” the insider said.
And, friends say, although the two clash fiercely, neither seems willing to stay angry for long.
“The make-up happens before any kind of breakup because they are absolutely addicted to each other,” the source said.
Of course, their marriage never exactly followed a neat Hollywood script.
The pair first met as teenagers backstage at The Today Show, introduced by Hailey’s father Stephen Baldwin, before reconnecting years later through their shared church circle. Dating rumors followed, then a brief romance and what Justin later described as a “very dramatic” breakup in 2016.
When they got back together in June 2018 — just months after Justin ended his on-again, off-again relationship with singer Selena Gomez — things moved at a breakneck pace: a proposal in the Bahamas within weeks, followed by a courthouse wedding later that year.

Their rapidly evolving romance attracted much criticism – and the rThe constant scrutiny only intensified during a rocky 2025 for the Biebers.
In May 2025, Justin, 32, faced backlash when he flagged Hailey’s first Vogue cover by recalling a private argument in which he said she would “never” land the prestigious shoot.
“Yo this reminds me of when Hailey and I had a huge fight,” he wrote in an Instagram tribute to his wife. ‘I told Hails she would never be on the cover of Vogue. Yeah, I know, so mean.”
Justin went on to say that he had felt “disrespected” at the time and believed he had to “get revenge” on Hailey, 29, before admitting that retaliation only delayed the “intimacy and connection” they both wanted.
He later replaced the lengthy caption with a series of emojis after the confession was branded unnecessarily cruel.
It was just one of many moments that raised questions about whether the singer could cope with the relentless pressure around him.
Around the same time, Justin posted photos in which he appeared to be smoking from a bong and holding what appeared to be a lit joint, while other Instagram posts and public appearances sparked a new wave of concern online.
The ruthless control over the couple’s relationship only intensified during a rocky 2025 for the Biebers, with the pop star sharing footage of himself smoking from a hookah.
Then old clips of a teenage Justin with Sean “Diddy” Combs surfaced during the music mogul’s criminal trial last year, sparking speculation about their past relationship.
Combs was charged with racketeering, two counts of sex trafficking and two counts of transportation for prostitution. He was convicted of two counts of transportation for prostitution and sentenced to 50 months in prison.
During the trial, Justin’s spokesperson said the singer was not among Combs’ alleged victims, saying that “shifting the focus away from this reality detracts from the justice these victims rightly deserve.”
But no one has seen the relentless internet pile-ons and speculation about their marriage more closely than Hailey herself.
Speaking to Vogue Italia, the model admitted that daily claims that she and Justin were unhappy or headed for divorce had become a ‘mindf***’, adding: ‘I can’t even begin to explain it. It’s a crazy life to live.”
She also made it clear how futile it can feel to correct the record: “I’ve been in a position where I’ve tried to tell my side of a story or correct a story or tell the truth of a lie and then they say, ‘Well, she’s lying.’ Imagine how oppressive that feels.’
But friends say Hailey knew exactly what it meant to commit to Justin: Loving a former child star would come with baggage.
“Hailey knew when she married Justin that their relationship would be a lot of work because he has lingering issues from childhood fame, and she decided to take on that challenge,” our first source said.
Justin, who became world champion as a teenager, still struggles with “immaturity, impulsiveness and communication problems,” the source said — and sometimes only needs a few hours with his guitar to “Zen out.”

The source emphasized that Justin’s sensitivity comes with the fact that he grew up in the spotlight.
“Justin can’t get out of his own way – he’s 32, but feels like he’s lived 30 million lives, and sometimes it feels like he’s 350 years old,” they said.
That’s where Hailey comes in: friends say she keeps the Bieber ship from drifting too far off course.
“The truth is, Hailey has to keep the peace with Justin all the time,” the first source said. ‘She has the power in the relationship. She can be a force.”
And she has become one in her own right. After turning Rhode into a skincare sensation, Hailey sold the company to elf Beauty last year in a blockbuster $1 billion deal, while remaining as Chief Creative Officer and Head of Innovation.
Instead of getting lost in Justin’s shadow, those close to the couple say Hailey has found her own footing: a booming business, motherhood and the pressures that come with living next to one of pop’s most watched stars.
“Hailey is very practical and comes up with solutions,” the first source explains. ‘She is determined to stay with Justin forever. And they lean on God – they are both very faithful and pray together, which connects them.”
The couple doesn’t pretend they can do it alone either. ‘They get help, they work hard on their relationship, [and] their circle of friends is also supportive,” said the second insider.
“She’s in it for the long haul. Hailey doesn’t believe in divorce,” a source told the Daily Mail
Despite all the speculation about what really happened at the wedding this weekend, the couple seemed unfazed, with Justin sharing photos of himself and Hailey alongside a series of heart emojis.
“Let’s face it, Justin has lived a life that only he can handle. It’s a situation that only a select few can understand,” said an insider. “Hailey knows how to do it, but it can definitely be a challenge.”
Our first source was even more blunt: “She’s in it for the long haul. Hailey doesn’t believe in divorce.’
