Lorraine Kelly has revealed how she slimmed down for her daughter Rosie’s wedding after ditching her nightly ‘chocolate plate’ and quit alcohol.

The TV presenter, 66, was every bit the proud parent when influencer Rosie, 32, tied the knot with her partner Steve White at the Andy Murray-owned Cromlix Hotel near Dunblane, in Stirling, in July.

The wedding was a hugely important day for mother of the bride Lorraine, who wanted to make sure she looked her best.

Lorraine and her husband Steve Smith went for the healthier approach earlier this year after becoming unhappy with her size 16 figure – and the star has said she is loving the results.

She told me Saga Magazine: ‘We have both decided that we will go to the gym twice a week, especially for people over 60. And it’s fantastic. It’s all about building muscle strength and balance.

‘My husband no longer gives me huge portions because he cooks himself, but he gives me huge portions. Of course I’m greedy, so I eat them. So we cut that back and we cut out a plate of chocolate, because every night when we watched the telly we had a cup of tea.

Rosie, 32, married her partner Steve White in July at the Cromlix Hotel, owned by Andy Murray, near Dunblane, Scotland (seen at her hen party)

“And it started as maybe half a bar of chocolate or a cookie. And I can’t open a pack of cookies and just have one. Who can open a bag of sweets and take just one? No, that’s not right. So we stopped doing that completely.’

She added that they also “stopped drinking” but did indulge in a glass of champagne at the wedding.

Lorraine went on to say that she now ‘takes a lot better care of herself’ by also taking supplements, going to the gym, swimming and walking the dog.

Rosie revealed she had gotten married at the end of July when she shared the happy news on Instagram.

She shared a photo from her hotel room as she reflected on the past few days, writing, “Well, we got married… Decompressing in Edinburgh after the most special weekend of our lives – we’ll tell you more about it soon, but we’re taking the time to soak it all in.’

Steve proposed to Rosie two years ago, in June 2024, while Rosie was pregnant with their first child. Two months later they welcomed daughter Billie, making Lorraine a grandmother.

Lorraine has previously said she feels like she is getting a second chance at motherhood when she opened up about being a grandmother.

The star and her husband Steve Smith recently spent just six minutes away from their daughter’s family, and the legendary broadcaster admitted she is ‘getting the chance to be a mother again’ after the challenges of raising Rosie while at work.

Lorraine said of being a grandma to the Daily Mail: ‘It’s amazing. To be honest, in a way, I’m getting the chance to be a mother again.

On her Instagram Story in July, Rosie shared a photo from her hotel room as she reflected on the past few days, writing, “Well, we got married…”

‘I’m not going to be a mother anymore because [Rosie’s] her mother and she has her mother, but I get a chance to do it again and hopefully do it better.”

Reflecting on juggling motherhood and her career, she explained: “Because when I had Rosie, I was in my 30s, I think I was 34 and working, and it’s always harder when you’re the mother.”

She praised her daughter and continued, “I think you’re amazing. She is incredible, absolutely incredible. I don’t know how you do everything you do, but it’s wonderful when it’s your grandchild, because you read the books you read yourself.

“It’s just beautiful, and she’s a little lamb. She is an asset to you. She’s an absolute angel.’

Lorraine also addressed the change in attitudes towards working mothers and pregnancy, explaining that it used to be taboo to see pregnant women on TV.

‘That would have been between 1993 and 1994, when I was pregnant. “It was still quite unusual for pregnant women to be on television, especially every day and especially live television,” she said.

‘It was no longer as frowned upon as it was in the eighties. I mean, I remember when the real pioneer was Anne Diamond, because Anne was sitting on the couch pregnant and she made it easier for all of us to follow her.”

When Rosie had her baby, Lorraine wrote on Instagram: ‘I was eager to share this great news with you! Baby Billie is an angel and I am so proud of Rosie and Steve who will be the best parents.

‘I’m happy to be Granny Smith and can’t wait to go on an adventure.’

Rosie added: “Baby Billie Kelly Smith-White is here 8/29/2024.”

“It feels like she’s been here the whole time and we’re not really sure what the point of anything before was.

‘I had heard how wonderful midwives are, but they really are walking angels. She has already been welcomed into the world with so much love.”
