Spice Girls post cryptic video full of clues after months of reunion rumors sending fans into panic

Spice Girls have posted a cryptic video amid months of reunion rumors that have fans in panic.

On Wednesday, the pop group shared a short clip full of clues on Instagram.

The video featured a newspaper on the steps of London’s St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, which many fans will know as the location used for their Wannabe music video.

It was also the opening of their 1996 debut single, which can be heard in the teaser.

The name of the newspaper at the top reads: ‘The Stage and Television Today.’

The publication once covered West End shows, theater productions, touring companies, TV casting news and reviews.

‘Spice Girls are a highly successful, global, choreographed, singing/dancing pop act with a record nine number ones in the UK and over 100 million worldwide sales.’

The article continues: ‘Thursday 10 September at 2am BST. No sheet music required, but you will need a vinyl or CD player.’

They wrote: ‘Every day I pray for a re-release of the Spice Girl Impulse spray. Is this it,’

‘Read the newspaper, it’s a 30th anniversary reissue.’

‘If it’s a world tour, I’ll sell my house to buy tix’

‘Just go on tour. That’s what we want’

‘WHAT IS HAPPENING’

“Like what??? What’s happening? I’m so excited and nervous at the same time.’

Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell-Horner and Victoria Beckham have repeatedly spoken about wanting to mark the milestone in some way.

In March, the Spice Girls 30th Anniversary tour was halted after the group failed to agree on plans for a comeback.

All five band members were in talks for a series of concerts to celebrate thirty years since the release of their debut single Wannabe.

However, it was reported that the group could not reach an agreement on a reunion, and therefore all plans had been scrapped.

It comes weeks after it was reported that a Netflix project to celebrate the anniversary had also been cancelled, with sources claiming that Geri in particular had had doubts about whether to sign up.

Mel C herself confirmed that no reunion was in the works, as she told The Smallzy Show on KIIS Radio: “No, there is no reunion. We communicate all the time. We want to do something – who knows when.

“But I’m still very optimistic and my fingers are crossed that you’ll see the Spice Girls together one day.”

While Mel himself had hinted in January that the band was still in talks to celebrate the Spice Girls’ 30th anniversary, The sun subsequently reported that the plans have fallen apart.

Daily Mail has contacted a representative of The Spice Girls for comment.

Last April, it was reported that Geri had reconnected with the band’s former manager, Simon Fuller, and had flown to Miami to try to broker a deal.

In February, Victoria finally rejoined the Spice Girls on Instagram for a sing-along after refusing to go on tour in 2019.

Amid the furor over her family’s feud with eldest son Brooklyn, Victoria joined the group to sing at her London home – 30 years after the band first got together.

Meanwhile, Mel B said she wanted the band to get back together and teased fans by ‘liking’ a comment about the prospect of a reunion.

As the ladies sang their harmony, Victoria’s son Cruz strummed the guitar, while his girlfriend Jackie Apostel sat at the table and the family’s personal chefs watched through glass doors from the kitchen.

Victoria has dropped hints that she might do something with the band, uploading a clip of her singing a live acoustic version of one of their biggest hits.

Mel C appeared on Good Morning America in November to promote her ninth album Sweat and was curious to see if the Spice Girls would get back together.

She crossed her fingers and said, “I remain optimistic. Next year we will be celebrating our thirtieth anniversary. We toured in 2019, we did a few stadium shows in the UK and it was incredible.

“We’re just so proud of the legacy we have and we now have fans from new generations who love the Spice Girls, so I would love to be on stage with the girls again.

‘We talk and we look at what opportunities there are. What holds us back is that it makes us feel so valuable that we want to make sure it’s the right thing and that we agree on it.”

Mel also admitted that she will always long for another Spice Girls reunion, this time with Victoria there.

Geri Horner, Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham were in talks for a series of concerts but could not come to an agreement (Victoria, Mel C, Emma and Geri are pictured)

She said: ‘It was the best experience as a Spice Girl. Because so much time had passed, I think we were all very present and really appreciated what this meant to so many people.”

‘It was such a joyful experience. We just took it in for the first time and loved every minute of it. I feel emotional because I would like to do it again.”

In 2024, reports emerged that Geri had derailed a huge TV drama deal, which would have earned each of the five members £1 million each.

Sources had said that the ‘nightmare’ between Geri and Mel B left the band unable to find a manager who could ‘mediate’ to get projects across the line.

The feud started when Mel admitted she had a lesbian affair with Geri during the band’s 90s heyday on Piers Morgan’s chat show in 2019.

Geri denied the affair had taken place, with Mel accused of making it up to sell copies of her tell-all memoir, Brutally Honest.

Victoria had previously insisted she would not rejoin the band, insisting her fashion career was her focus and reiterating that being with the Spice Girls was just four years of her life.

Speaking to Andy Cohen on Sirius XM last October, she said, “Before I was with the Spice Girls, I was so self-conscious and they made me feel like I was good enough.

‘But when I got on stage I realized that as much fun as it is, ultimately this isn’t what I want to do anymore.

“I don’t know if I could sing anymore,” she joked. “I mean, I’ve never been that great. It would be tempting. But could I do a world tour? No, I can’t. I have a job…

‘How good would the Spice Girls be in the Sphere? I think it’s a great idea.’

Victoria last performed with the band at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games and previously accompanied the band on their 2007-2008 world tour.

Geri left the band in 1998, in the middle of their world tour and on Mel B’s birthday.

Geri’s departure from the band made headlines around the world, and two years later the group went on hiatus.

The Spice Girls rose to fame in 1996 when their debut single Wannabe reached number one in 37 countries.

The girl group reached the top of the UK charts nine times and had two number one albums. When Geri left the band, she began a solo career and enjoyed four number one singles in Britain.
