Kelly Osbourne got her ‘first line of cocaine’ from one of Ozzy Osbourne’s famous rock ‘n’ roll friends.
The 41-year-old star has reflected on her time growing up at the famed Sunset Marquis hotel, which became a place for teenage exploration and banter as she grew older.
In new documentary If These Walls Could Rock, Kelly’s mother Sharon revealed how the Osbournes stayed at the hotel every summer while Ozzy toured the US, before settling into their own home in Los Angeles.
Kelly recalled, “I had my first drink in this hotel. I had my first kiss in this hotel. I drank my first line of cocaine in this hotel… which I got from one of my dad’s friends in a really, really, really big band, and I could never tell my parents because they would fucking kill him.”
Sharon revealed that Ozzy, who died in July 2025 aged 76, loved to continue the “sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll” lifestyle at the hotel.

She said: ‘He would love it here because he could wander around. He could wander outside in the garden. At that time he smoked.
‘He got to know other guests in the hotel, which made it feel like ‘being in your own home with many friends’.”
Kelly described the Sunset Marquis as “the only hotel where my father could stay at the time, where my father could be himself.”
She admitted, “We would be evicted anywhere, but not the Sunset Marquis. My father could politely misbehave here.”
ZZ Top legend Billy Gibbons spent time with Ozzy at the hotel and remembered one night in particular that would go down in history.
He said: ‘Ozzy Osbourne happened to be at the Marquis’ pool. He sent for me… and he knew about a restaurant called Le Pirate.
“At the end of the night you threw a glass and he said, ‘Maybe we should make that part of the Marquis.’
The Gimme All Your Lovin’ rock star pointed out that many people were walking around without shoes, but Ozzy decided to smash his glass anyway, which persuaded others to do the same.
Billy recalled, “Within 30 seconds, every glass that had been around the pool was now in pieces.
‘And it became so dangerous that no one could leave, so the party continued until the small hours. That’s the kind of stuff that happens at the Marquis.’
