Sheridan Smith gives minder a cheeky pat on the bottom while greeting fans outside stage door of flop show Opening Night – after lamenting her dodgy dating life

Sheridan Smith gave her security guard a cheeky pat on the back as she left the theater after a new performance in her play Opening Night on Wednesday.

The actress, 42, was spotted putting on a cozy show with the man with the long beard as she left the theater as her show neared the end of its run, following poor ticket sales and unimpressed reviews.

Sheridan, who recently jumped into the arms of another security guard last week, appeared close to the fellow security guard – just days after opening up about her rocky love life.

Despite Opening Night’s early closure, Sheridan put on a brave face as she left London’s Gielgud Theater ahead of the final show on May 18.

The cheerful Sheridan appeared in good spirits and interacted with fans as she signed autographs.

MailOnline has contacted Sheridan’s representatives for comment.

Last week, Sheridan admitted that ‘it’s hard to let anyone into her world’ as she opened up about her dating life.

She welcomed her son Billy in 2020, with her ex-fiancé Jamie Horn, whom she divorced in 2021.

Sheridan has now revealed that she tried dating apps but failed to find one.

She admitted that she’s “still figuring out” her love life, but is more than “happy” spending her time with her son.

When asked if it is easier to date someone in the public eye, the singer said The Sunday times: ‘Don’t know. I’ve tried both. I’m still figuring it out. Honestly, I don’t know what I was thinking when I was on those apps.

“It’s hard to let anyone into that world, and for anyone to want to be part of that world too, so who knows what the future holds, but I’m happy.”

Sheridan went on to say that she believes she is good at being single, but her friends disagree.

She added: “Of course I would love to become a parent with someone, but if I don’t, I have my son and I live for him. It’s me and him against the world. Everything is for him, so I don’t feel the need to date like I used to. Hopefully one day someone will love me for me.”

It comes after she burst into tears while discussing the failure of her play Opening Night.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, the actress was moved to tears during the interview as she admitted she “felt like she was letting everyone down.”

After first hitting the stage in March, it was announced last month that Opening Night will end its run at London’s Gielgud Theater on May 18 instead of July 27 – and producers blamed the decision on a ‘challenging financial landscape’ .

Announcing the news, the production team said the play “may not have had the life we had hoped” – something Sheridan complained and blamed himself for.

The bereft star said: ‘I was just heartbroken for the company. I felt like I was letting them down in a way, that I couldn’t sell it.”

Sheridan recently begged people to come see the show after it was turned away by theatergoers who claimed it was ‘boring’ and walked out mid-show.

Opening Night tells the story of functioning alcoholic actress Myrtle Gordon (Sheridan) who is given a second chance. The play is based on the 1977 drama film of the same name, starring Gena Rowlands.

She has admitted that the role forced her to confront her own issues after she suffered a highly publicized breakdown during a performance in Funny Girl in the West End in 2016.

“I was very ashamed of that time in my life, and I wanted to play this role to prove that I could do it, that I could face my demons head-on,” she told The Times. “I’m so much stronger than I was then.”

‘I went off the rails a bit, dated the wrong people, obviously my breakdown. Now I feel like I’m a mother, I’m very grateful for everything I have in my life. I feel like the best is yet to come.”
