Patsy Kensit says she is rebuilding her life ‘from scratch’ after losing everything when a financial investment went wrong a decade ago.
The actress, 58, who recently announced she was returning to Emmerdale after two decades, revealed she lost her home but has learned valuable lessons from her financial ruin.
Speaking of Davina McCall’s Start podcast againPatsy said: ‘I don’t know if it’s relatable to anyone, but I had my pension and everything and I was very vigilant about that.’
“Then I went into something corporate and I lost, this was ten years ago, I lost everything. I lost my house. And so I have to start all over again.’
Patsy, who was married to Liam Gallagher in the late 1990s, admitted that ‘it was hard, but I’m a survivor, I always have been.’ She added that she has taken on “a tremendous” amount of work lately.
“You just take each day at a time and I do that in regards to my job and the sheer volume of scripts I learn. I just try to keep it during the day. Tomorrow, who knows?’

Patsy previously revealed that a skincare company she started doing business with went bankrupt overnight.
“It all went wrong and I lost everything,” she said Hello! in 2024. ‘There was financial support and then the CEO had a stroke.’
‘I’ve always owned houses, but I had to sell my house and start all over again. It was brutal, especially because I worked so hard and then suddenly thought, ‘Who am I?’
During a 2025 appearance on Hello!’s Second Act podcast, Patsy explained how she had recently embraced “budgeting” after years of hiding from her finances.
‘I’m writing down [everything] … I just buried my head in the sand … I had terrible sleepless nights, but it’s what I learned,” she said.
‘And the amount I spent on things when you actually experience things. All I can say from my point of view is that I was really lucky.”
Patsy’s next big acting role is her return to Emmerdale after twenty years, where she reprises her role as villain Sadie King.
The actress starred in the long-running ITV soap for two years from 2004 to 2006 – and returns as part of an ‘explosive’ new storyline that is ‘guaranteed to shock’.

“It’s a lot of dialogue, a lot of learning, which is actually a really good thing at my age,” she told Begin Again.
‘Being 58, just that memory muscle and knowing that you can still pick up the lines and remember them and then also work on your performance.’
Patsy gushed that everyone on set ‘has been so wonderful for me. To go back and then have cast members who have stayed on the show or left and then went back, just to see them again.
‘There is the real truth about Yorkshire Welcome and that’s something I’ve had in spades when I went back to the show and I was nervous, very, very nervous.’
Earlier this month it was reported that some of the Emmerdale cast were included are quietly fuming that ITV has raised money on a shoestring to get Patsy back, while at the same time suspending cast members.
ITV has been hit by widespread budget cuts in recent months, due to several factors including changing viewing habits, which have resulted in a shift to streaming services.
