Melanie Sykes stepped out wearing a headscarf while out for a dog walk on Monday, for her first sighting since revealing she had lost “two-thirds” of her hair to alopecia.
The TV personality, 55, looked demure and stylish as she enjoyed a Joe & The Juice while teaming a patterned scarf with a white T-shirt and casual trousers.
She looked relaxed as she loved her Pembroke Welsh Corgi as she carried a tote bag that read: ‘You can take the girl out of Mossley, but you can’t take Mossley’, in a nod to her roots in the town of Mossley in Tameside, Greater Manchester.
Earlier this year, the star revealed she is “learning to live with loss” following her ongoing battle with alopecia, after first speaking out about her diagnosis in April 2025.
Melanie, who also suffers from a heart condition that causes heart palpitations, said she is ‘counting her blessings’ and explained that although the hair she has around the crown of her head is all she has left, it is healthy.

Melanie has been showing off her completely bald head for days after revealing she has lost ‘two thirds’ of her hair
In a recent post, Melanie wrote, “Hey stumps, My crowning glory is pretty much what’s left of my hair now and how healthy it is.
‘I do get cold though, hence my hat and various headgear, but I am learning to live with ‘loss’ and count my blessings instead.
‘It’s not always easy to be grateful, but it is the key to happiness and takes daily, moment-by-moment practice. Practice love.”
Melanie shared a positive health update to wrap up 2025, revealing she was suffering from ‘post-traumatic growth’.
She took to Instagram to tell fans how she was “vibrating high” after “overcoming trauma” amid her battle with the autoimmune disease that left her “two-thirds bald” and with excessive inflammation all over her body.
Post-traumatic growth is the positive psychological change that some individuals experience after a life crisis or traumatic event.

She said, “Even the hardest times pass, and I just want to use this term post-traumatic growth. It’s real, you can suffer from PTSD but still experience post-traumatic growth at the same time.”
“I’m in both camps because you can be both things at the same time, as long as I pay attention to myself and what makes me happy, and feel sadness about what happened, and process it and move on.”
Before we add: ‘We can transcend all trauma, we can be changed, and I am living proof of that!’.
She captioned the post: ‘Hello you beautiful people, sharing my high vibes today, Love Always, Melanie x’.
The star, who was the face of the Boddingtons Bitter beer advert in the mid-1990s, gave her first insight into her hair loss in April 2025, showing off her side profile where she pointed out a bald spot on her head.
She said the photo was taken while she was in London to investigate some health issues.
‘I suffer from alopecia and heart problems because of everything that has happened in recent months. PTSD, shock, abuse and malpractice,” the former TV star revealed.

Last year, Melanie urged fans not to ‘worry about her’ amid her health problems, insisting she has ‘learned to take from herself’ and is ‘healing’.
She said: ‘Life is so good, and I know it because I’m here now and there’s nothing to be afraid of. There is nothing to fear.
“The more I tune into faith and believe that everything is good because it is, because I experience it, so I know it is, it will only get better.”
Melanie said she prefers not to talk about her illness all the time, adding, “We don’t have to bring that into the conversation.”
She continued, “It’s not like I’m hiding it, I just prefer to have a conversation about something else because I’ve mastered that and I’m healing myself.
“By all means, worry about yourself, and I don’t even mean worry about yourself, I just mean pay attention to your own spiritual garden, to yourself, to your body, to your mind, to your creative spirit.
“Don’t worry about me, I have me, I always have me, I have learned in the last two years to really take care of myself.”
Melanie revealed in a clip that she also suffers from excessive inflammation all over her body.
