Laura Byrne has spoken out against influencers undergoing major surgical procedures at the age of 30.
Her comments come days after Ruby Tuesday Matthews shared details about having a facelift at the age of 33.
The Bachelor star says those who influence young women, like Matthews, and choose these surgeries are creating a “frightening” world.
“The more people do and talk about it at age 30, all it does is normalize it,” she said in a new episode of her podcast: Life Uncircumcised.
Laura said she worries about the impact these social media stars are having on her three young daughters.
‘I dare say that in ten years’ time, a facelift at 30 will be like a new boob job, and that to me is inherently scary. I don’t want that world for my daughters,” the 40-year-old continued.

‘I feel like I have a responsibility to them, and not just talk about how beautiful you are the way you are. You don’t have to change anything about yourself, like these are all things I’m trying to teach my kids.”
Laura admitted that she has made some effort to slow her own aging, which puts her in a difficult position.
“I think there’s some hypocrisy in the fact that I say these things to my daughters and then go and have a surgical procedure because I can’t fathom the idea of growing older, because I’m trying to radically fight it,” she said.
Byrne’s co-star Brittany Hockley then wondered whether it’s better for influencers to be open about their surgeries instead of pretending they have good genes or achieve their looks with skin care alone.
“Would you prefer people to be open about the work they’ve done so that you’re hyper-aware of it and not comparing yourself to something that’s unattainable?” she asked.
‘It’s an impossible choice and there is no right or wrong answer. I want them to be honest with the public so that they know, but on the other hand you are not protecting the youth (women) and you are leading your public down the garden path.”
The conversation comes after popular influencer Ruby was criticized by followers after undergoing an endoscopic facelift in Korea, despite being only 33 years old.
The mother of three is currently sharing her recovery on Instagram after having the $16,000 procedure done at a plastic surgery clinic in Seoul.

She told fans she wanted to be “transparent” about getting a facelift, but many have criticized her for being a bad influence on young women.
“It’s kind of chic not to give young women a step-by-step guide to getting a facelift,” one person wrote.
“Can we stop normalizing this?” said another, while someone else commented: ‘Why do women get facelifts at such a young age?’
Someone else wrote a lengthy message ‘to all the young girls’ who watch Ruby’s video, telling them they are ‘beautiful, magical and gorgeous’ in their ‘natural’ skin.
“No facelift or cosmetic procedure will ever change the way you actually see yourself,” she added.
