Kemi Badenoch is ready for a Tory reshuffle in weeks as she steps up attack on Andy Burnham and Reform

Kemi Badenoch is ready to make a Tory rearranging as she sharpens her attack Andy Burnham.

The Conservative leader will make changes to her team before the party holds its annual conference Birmingham in October.

Highly rated Claire Coutinho is going on maternity leave, meaning her Net Zero bill needs to be covered.

Shadow Attorney-General Helen Grant is expected to leave the front bench after announcing she will resign from the next bench general elections.

Julia Lopez will also need a new role after Mr Burnham axed the science secretary job she is pursuing.

However, insiders do not expect Ms Badenoch to make any dramatic changes to the top positions at this stage.

This is despite rumors about the futures of shadow chancellor Mel Stride, shadow foreign secretary Priti Patel and shadow home secretary Chris Philp.

Katie Lam, who is currently part of Mr Philp’s home affairs team, is among those tipped to be given a more prominent post.

Other names in the list include Harriet Cross, a Scottish Conservative MP who contributed to the recent by-election success in Aberdeen South.

Ms Badenoch has strengthened her own position with a string of impressive PMQ performances that have seen her personal ratings rise sharply.

Many MPs are optimistic that the Tories’ polls have also stabilised, although they are still behind Reform and Labour.

Talk of defections to reform has subsided and Nigel Farage is struggling to shake off questions about his finances.

Ms Badenoch has taken a strong stance against making deals with Mr Farage, insisting the idea is ‘monstrous’.

What tough choices will Kemi Badenoch have to make in her reshuffle to restore confidence in the Conservatives?

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni urged her to hold on when they met in Rome this week.

The politicians enjoyed an hour of chatting over coffee yesterday Ms Meloni said she advised Ms Badenoch to ‘be your own woman and stand your ground’.

Ms Meloni and Ms Badenoch are both currently facing a challenge from the right.

Roberto Vannacci, a former general and leader of the hard-right National Future party, has recently risen in the polls in Italy.
