Jimmy Kimmel Live ends after 24 years following the host's suspension and the war of words with Trump

Jimmy Kimmel’s run on late-night television is coming to an end after 24 years.

Jimmy Kimmel Live will end in 2027, according to sources who spoke Page six on Tuesday.

The news comes a year after the 58-year-old comedian was famously suspended, with an insider telling the publication: “His contract will not be renewed.”

The Daily Mail has reached out to Kimmel’s representatives and has yet to hear back.

Kimmel returns to television on Tuesday, with his final episode reportedly set to air in May next year.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, an ABC Entertainment spokesperson said: “This information is incorrect – any reports regarding the future of the show at this time are purely speculative.”

Page Six’s sources claimed that Kimmel’s years of criticism of President Donald Trump were unlikely to be the cause of his alleged cancellation.

Kimmel has also had a contentious relationship with his network, ABC. On September 17, 2025, the comedian’s show was suspended by ABC and the Walt Disney Company, which owns the network, after he was criticized by conservative figures for comments he made about the murder of right-wing activist and provocateur Charlie Kirk.

Shortly before Kimmel’s suspension, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr joined the pile-on by threatening to take action against ABC and independent stations that aired Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Kimmel’s suspension was lifted on September 22 last year and his show triumphantly returned to the air the next day, attracting an impressive 6.26 million viewers, the most Kimmel had attracted in more than a decade.

According to TMZa source claimed that there was talk among Kimmel’s staff about him reportedly pitching other shows and podcasts in Hollywood.

Kimmel has notably favored year-to-year contracts with ABC, a relative rarity that has afforded him significantly more flexibility than other late-night hosts.

The reported end of his show comes after Rosie O’Donnell filled in for him for four nights, which were well received by critics and viewers alike.

One source described the comedian and talk show host as “in her element” as soon as she stepped onto Kimmel’s set, and O’Donnell managed to get one of her bits viral when she poked fun at her old nemesis Donald Trump by changing the lyrics of the traditional song Danny Boy to “Donnie Boy.”
