George and Amal Clooney made a glamorous arrival at the 83rd Venice Film Festival by water taxi on Tuesday as the glitzy annual event was about to get underway.
However, it’s not just any other Venice Film Festival for 65-year-old George this year, as he’s about to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award – and Amal will be by his side to support him.
Last year he attended the festival to promote his film Jay Kelly, in which he plays a movie star who travels to Italy for a Lifetime Achievement Award.
And this year, life will imitate art as he receives the Golden Lion on Wednesday, the opening day of the event.
As they traveled through Venice’s waterways by taxi, Amal, 48, showed off her refined sense of style in khaki shorts and a matching blazer.
George was a gentleman in every way as he helped Amal get off the water taxi by holding her hand.

It’s not a long journey to Venice for Amal and George, who own a 15-bedroom villa a few hours away on Lake Como.

In the nearly 30 years since he attended his first Venice Film Festival George has become a fixture at the event with the film Out of Sight.
It’s a place where he’s had many important moments, from his wedding to Amal at Aman Venice to the debut of Good Night, and Good Luck – which earned him his first Oscar nomination for Best Director.
This year the Venice Film Festival takes place from September 2 to 12.
The red carpets start with the premiere of Ink by British director Danny Boyle, a drama about the rise of media mogul Rupert Murdoch.
It concludes on September 12 with the Italian costume drama Dio Ride (God Laughs), written and directed by Giovanni Veronesi.
Maggie Gyllenhaal will chair the jury for the main competition.
She is joined by Tunisian director and screenwriter Kaouther Ben Hania, English composer Daniel Blumberg, Italian critic Francesco Casetti, French director Xavier Giannoli, Afghan director Shahrbanoo Sadat and Hong Kong director Johnnie To.

Stars expected to attend this year include Oasis’ Noel and Liam Gallagher, Rooney and Kate Mara, Robert Pattinson, Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Pamela Anderson, Sam Rockwell, John Malkovich, Louis Garrel, Cho Yeo-jeong and Ellen Burstyn – who will also receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Noel and Liam will be on hand to promote their documentary Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, which follows the Gallagher brothers on their 2025 reunion tour.
The festival takes place after forest fires in southern France at the end of July forced George and Amal to flee their home.
The family lives in Brignoles, located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, which was threatened by fires that spread across France, Greece, Italy and Spain.
George revealed that he and his loved ones had evacuated their home in a letter to Brignoles mayor Didier Brémond. People at the time.
The actor has reportedly vowed to support the city, which has a population of just under 18,000, regardless of the impact of the advancing fires.
