Gareth Bale has made his first major move since hanging up his boots by linking up with NBA icon Stephen Curry.

Bale ended his 17-year football career last year, leaving the game with a strong claim to be the greatest British player of all time.

It was no secret that Bale had a huge passion for golf during his playing days, with fans often joking that he cared more about the sport than football.

And he has decided to put more of his energy into the game and become an ambassador for Curry’s ‘Underrated Golf’.

Golden State Warriors star Curry has been passionate about golf since a young age, with Underrated aiming to open up the game to young people from different communities.

Curry launched the initiative in the US two years ago and is now heading to Europe, starting in Surrey between May 29 and 31.

Bale teased that he would be working with Curry after the two met following Curry’s Warriors’ clash with the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this month.

Bale posted a photo of himself on the pitch with Curry and a signed shirt, writing: ‘What a night to see these boys play up close. Good to see you [Stephen Curry]. Excited for what’s to come!’

Bale then spoke in more detail about the tour in a press release.

As reported by The Mirror, he said: ‘It is an honor to join Stephen Curry and his Underrated Golf European Tour as an ambassador as they expand their presence internationally this year.

“I admire the work the US tour has done to grow the game of golf, a sport I love and believe in the tremendous opportunities it presents.

“My role as ambassador allows me to combine my enthusiasm for the sport with my passion for creating diverse sporting opportunities for young people in Wales, and I look forward to seeing the skills of the young athletes when they take to the greens at Walton. Heath in May.”
