They say beauty is pain, and that seems to be true for actresses Daisy Edgar Jones.
For the star of the highly anticipated new adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense And Sensibility has revealed the uncomfortable truth of Elinor Dashwood’s role in the film, which hits cinemas this month.
She describes how wearing tight corsets to portray the heroine gave her difficulty digesting her lunch.
“You’ve got the petticoats and you’ve got the corset done up. And then I had to be sewn into my dress,” says Daisy.
‘It would take twenty to thirty minutes. Every time I wore my corset, I would eat my lunch and I would feel like my food was stuck there.”
London-born Daisy, 28, added: ‘At the end of the day I took off my corset and it fell – I felt like I was suddenly starting to digest it.’

Director Georgia Oakley’s version of Jane Austen’s first published novel stars Daisy as Elinor, alongside Esmé Creed-Miles as her sister Marianne.
Caitríona Balfe also stars as Mrs Dashwood, while George MacKay and Frank Dillane play the male leads of Edward Ferrars and Mr Willoughby respectively.
The impressive cast is completed by 14-year-old rising star Bodhi Rae Breathnach as the third Dashwood sister, who had recently won the role of Susanna, the eldest Shakespearean child in Oscar winner Hamnet, when she was cast.
The first trailer faithfully follows Austen’s story of the three Dashwood sisters and their mother as they are forced to leave Norland Park, the family estate in Sussex, and move to a modest cottage in far-away Devon following the death of their father.
There they experience a new life on the fringes of the society they once basked in, and are introduced to new suitors.
Last week, Daisy recalled the time she was first introduced to her teenage love Leonardo DiCaprio at a nightclub.
The Hollywood actor, 51, was one of Daisy’s crushes for years and she even had his photo as her lock screen.
Leonardo became a worldwide crush in the 1990s after starring in Romeo + Juliet and Titanic.
Speaking on the dish of Guard rose podcast of Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett OBE spoke to Daisy about her amazing meeting with the Oscar winner.
The Normal People actress said: “I was obsessed with, okay, two people. Oh, actually I have three people. Logan Lerman in Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.
“He had one Justin Bieber haircut at the time. I think I like it too, I loved Greek mythology, and he represented a little bit of that for me.
‘Then it was Leo DiCaprio in Romeo and Juliet. I know it’s a classic, but it was my phone wallpaper for a while.
“And then randomly, um, this Tumblr model named Ash Stymest. He only smoked cigarettes and had nice hair. Anyway.’
She went on to talk about their meeting: “I met Leo DiCaprioActually. I met him randomly in a club at an after party for something.
‘[We] very briefly passed each other and I met him, that was cool. I wasn’t like, ‘Oh my God, you’re still my phone wallpaper.'”
