Cheryl argues with her Girls Aloud bandmates live on Radio 2 as hilarious video shows Scott Mills struggling to regain control of chaotic interview

Girls Aloud have insisted they ‘don’t do disagreements, just disagreements’, but things got hilariously heated during a recent radio interview.

Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts appeared on Scott Mills’ Radio 2 show on Monday when talk turned to their upcoming reunion tour.

A video on BBC Radio 2’s Instagram page showed the interview descending into chaos after Scott innocently asked the band if they would perform. some new covers on the tour.

Nicola was the first to respond, insisting: “I don’t think we have room,” before Cheryl told Scott: “I’ve said it several times, people like it!”

However, Nadine was in the opposite camp and interrupted to say: ‘I was absolutely against it. I feel like we have so many Girls Aloud songs as our own. Why do we have to do it?’

“But we can just add one random cover to it, that’s fun!” Cheryl hit back.

Scott hilariously told listeners: ‘Join us because there’s a little disagreement with Girls Aloud in between whether they should do covers or just the hits. We’ll be back after this…’

The video continued as the girls continued to talk over each other, with Scott explaining: ‘Girls Aloud is here and they’re still discussing whether they’re going to do a cover version or just their hits. Have we reached an agreement yet?’

An annoyed Cheryl continued: “I’m not saying we shouldn’t do anything,” before pleading with “guys” when she was interrupted again.

Scott mediated and told Cheryl to speak, who explained, “I think we have to do everything and… for the sake of three more minutes.”

‘But how long is the show? Five o’clock?’ Scott commented, prompting Nadine to say “exactly!”

“We’ll have to raise our hands again,” Scott joked.

The band have been sharing their own hilarious memes and videos to promote their tour, with their latest post on Monday poking fun at their repeated insistence that they would never get back together.

The group reenacted a viral meme from the 2019 Golden Globe Awards, when Lady Gaga was shown how her red carpet dress looked uncannily similar to a Judy Garland look in Star Is Born.

The post was captioned with an earlier quote from Cheryl, who said: “There will be no reunion though.”

She then imitated the words, “Oh look… you know what? I don’t know… I… we didn’t say that, no, but it sure seems like it, doesn’t it?’ while her bandmates looked around awkwardly.

The post was captioned: “So… yeah, anyway… See you next month at #TheGirlsAloudShow.”

Cheryl had first ruled out the prospect of a Girls Aloud reunion while the group were still together, making the quote in their Off The Record docuseries in 2006.

She said: “There will be no reunions, can you imagine a 30 year old singing ‘I’m just a Love Machine’?”

Girls Aloud will kick off their reunion tour next month after confirming rumors they were getting back together last year, which would have been 21 years after they formed.

When announcing the tour in November, the foursome revealed that the group has not recorded any new music, but simply wants to celebrate their back catalogue.

Cheryl revealed they had been discussing the plans for some time, but put the idea on hold when Sarah Harding – who died in September 2021 – was diagnosed with cancer.

She said in a statement: “We all started talking a few years ago about the possibility of doing something to celebrate Girls Aloud’s 20th anniversary. The anniversary seemed like an obvious thing to celebrate.

‘But when Sarah got sick, all priorities changed. She passed away a year before the anniversary and it just didn’t feel right, it felt too soon.”

The group plans to use the tour to “celebrate” their late friend.
