The Daily Mail is thrilled to introduce Sandwich, the latest addition to our Games section – and our most addictive word puzzle yet.
Sandwich is a daily test of your vocabulary and strategic thinking with a simple challenge: find the word in the middle. You can play Sandwich here.
How do you play Sandwich?
Each day’s Sandwich puzzle starts with two words, stacked on top of each other like slices of bread.
Hidden between them is the filling, and your job is to find it. You have to guess the word that is listed in the dictionary. For example, if the puzzle yields CAT and SUN, the answer will be somewhere after CAT and before SUN.
You have 10 guesses, and each wrong one becomes your new piece, closing the gap. If you run out of guesses, it’s game over until tomorrow.
A new Sandwich goes live every day at midnight UK time, so come back to keep your streak alive and compare your results with friends to see who’s the fastest.

Sandwich tips from the Lead Games Designer
Here are a few hints and tips from the Lead Games Designer to help you get used to the game.

Try to halve the gap on each guess: Aim for the middle of the two words. A word next to a piece you already have tells you almost nothing, and you only have 10 tries.
- Use the keyboard to help you make your next guess: While typing, the keyboard shows which letters are still available. Use that to plan your next gamble.
- The word will never be too unclear: We’re not out to hit you with a word you’d only find in a crossword, so if you’re looking for an exotic word, this probably won’t be the answer.
