Police have issued an arrest warrant for Below Deck Mediterranean star Nathan Gallagher, who appears to have left the country as he appeared in an Australian court on charges of asphyxiation and assault.
Nathan Gallagher was due to appear before Local Court Judge Janine Lacy on Tuesday, accused of assaulting and strangling his co-star – and now ex-partner – Gael Cameron in her Sydney apartment last year.
Ms Cameron arrived at Burwood Local Court, in the west of the city, to give evidence at a hearing. But when Gallagher was called and didn’t show up, prosecutors told Judge Lacy they couldn’t proceed any further.
“We believe the suspect is currently offshore,” the prosecutor, Sergeant Aruzza, told the court.
The prosecutor recommended the case be heard in Gallagher’s absence under a section of the Crimes Act that allows the magistrate to make a warrant to bring Gallagher to court.
Judge Lacy said immigration records showed Gallagher was “currently abroad.” She convicted him in his absence and issued a warrant for his arrest.
Ms Cameron declined to comment on the case when approached outside the courthouse.
The court heard that Gallagher was no longer represented by the lawyers he retained until a few weeks ago.
The Irish reality TV contestant, who was granted bail after spending a night in police custody after Christmas last year, has no conditions requiring him to report to police.
He also did not have to surrender his passport, despite his career in international hunting.

Gallagher, 28, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and intentionally choking a person without consent.
NSW Police also issued an arrest warrant for Gallagher, naming Ms Cameron as the protected person.
Gallagher and Ms Cameron, 30, were dating and have a one-year-old son together after meeting on the set of season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean in mid-2024.
Both were initially employed as deckhands on the luxury yacht crew show in Greece, before continuing their relationship for another two seasons when Gallagher was promoted to a ship’s boater position.
NSW police arrested the TV star on December 27 for allegedly attacking Ms Cameron at an apartment complex in the north-west suburb of Melrose Park on the evening of Boxing Day last year.
Ryde Police Area Command arrested him at 8.45am on December 27 after visiting the Appleroth Street high-rise complex, Melrose Park.

Gallagher was taken to Gladesville Police Station and appeared before a bail court on Sunday, December 28, where he was granted conditional bail.
Gallagher, who has pleaded not guilty to all three charges, has been given strict bail conditions including not going near or contacting Gael Cameron, not drinking alcohol or taking drugs unless prescribed by a doctor.
At the same time, Gallagher is also facing assault charges in his home country of Ireland.
The charges against him in Australia were secret until an article in Rolling Stone magazine revealed them last month.
After publication, Gallagher released his own statement saying it was not “fair” for one person’s account to be shown to the public “as if it were the whole story.”
He said he had “video footage of the night in question, as well as messages and other documents that… I am prepared to provide.”
“There are also other matters surrounding the relationship that I have never discussed publicly, including circumstances surrounding the breakdown of our relationship, previous allegations she has made about a former partner and financial matters relating to the purchase of an apartment in Sydney.”
Ms. Cameron and Gallagher had several rifts in their relationship, which were detailed on the Below Deck Med Show.
She confessed during a program sequel, the Below Deck Med After Show, that she had come to see “a different side” of Nathan when they were dating, and witnessed “a little bit of anger, stubbornness and immaturity.”
