Although Florida never won Miss USA, it took over the title in 1967. Cheryl Patton, who finished second, inherited the crown after Sylvia Hitchcock won. Ms Universe and first runner-up, Susan Ellen Bradley, declined to take the title.
Florida has also had two first runners-up and more than a dozen competitors have reached the semifinals. The state last qualified at Miss USA in 2025 with defending champion Lou Schieffelin, who reached the top 10.
