West Coast says they will prioritize the health and well-being of Tyler Brockman after the attacker was involved in a car crash that is being investigated by police.

Brockman was involved in a road accident in Geraldton, 420km north of Perth, early on Saturday morning.

The 21-year-old attended a family funeral on Friday afternoon.

West Coast says no other vehicle was involved and no one was injured.

“This matter is under investigation by WA Police and Tyler is fully cooperating,” West Coast said in a statement.

“Tyler’s personal circumstances are complex and the club will prioritize his health and wellbeing before he returns to football.

“The club has informed the AFL of this incident and we await the outcome of the police investigation before commenting further.”

Brockman made 26 appearances for Hawthorn before being traded to West Coast at the end of last year.

The diminutive forward was goalless in his first six games for the Eagles before being left out for last week’s six-point loss to Essendon.

West Coast are dealing with a number of injury concerns leading into Sunday’s clash with Collingwood at Marvel Stadium.

In-form forward Jake Waterman will miss the match with a concussion, while midfielder Elliot Yeo is also expected to spend some time on the sidelines after suffering his groin injury.

Coach Adam Simpson said on Monday night that they are awaiting scans on Yeo, but it is not a recurrence of the star’s pubic osteitis.

“It’s more of a pulled muscle so we’re hoping it’s just a one to two week injury,” Simpson told Fox Footy.

Sophomore forward Noah Long is also awaiting the results of scans after his knee twisted awkwardly during a tackle last weekend.

There is a chance that Long has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.

“We hope for the best but fear the worst,” Simpson said.
