Donald Trump unveiled a potential uniform for the US Space Force, with people comparing the service’s new look to classic science fiction films.
The newest wing of the US military has been mocked in the past for its futuristic nature of their uniforms.
However, many were surprised when Trump released a new “Service Dress Uniform” for the force titled “Next Generation,” which directly references the 1997 film Starship Troopers.
The design, according to the photo description, is inspired “by the discipline and functionality of the starship trooper uniform modernized for the guardians of the space domain.”
The color palette used for the uniforms includes ‘space gray’, ‘midnight black’, ‘silver grey’ and ‘satin black’.
Trump offered no explanation for the new uniforms.
Many were confused by the post and the concept behind the uniforms, comparing them to the villains from various space movies.
“I see we’re going for the Galactic Empire look,” one wrote, referring to the Imperial officers’ uniforms in the Star Wars films.

“These are the kind of costume designers who tell you who the bad guys are in a space movie,” wrote another.
‘My concern is whether these guys understand what Verhoeven meant with Starship Troopers. The thing is, I don’t know what would be worse: whether they got it or not,” columnist Jonah Goldberg added.
Conservative pundit James Lindsay wrote, “Star Trek meets Spaceballs meets…uh…Hugo Boss.”
Coincidentally, the Space Force introduced a new ceremonial dress uniform with blue accents two weeks ago at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix IndyCar event in Washington.
The Daily Mail has reached out to both the White House and the Space Force for comment.
This isn’t the first time the Space Force has been accused of borrowing ideas from science fiction.
The branch’s ‘delta’ logo has been compared to the Starfleet badge in Star Trek, while the military’s name ‘guardian’ has been compared to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
The uniforms that debuted in 2021 were compared outfits worn by soldiers in Battlestar Galactica, Star WarsStar Trek and other science fiction classics.

The new uniforms come as officials continue to emphasize how important Space Force will be to the future of combat.
The head of Space Command, Gen. Stephen Whiting, has repeatedly emphasized the importance of space to modern warfare, warning that adversaries are developing capabilities to deny the United States access to key systems and reduce military effectiveness.
He said adversaries would likely want to target U.S. space assets early in a conflict.
To counter such threats, the US must adopt a more active warfighting posture in space, Whiting argues.
That means not only protecting U.S. systems, but also a willingness to threaten or attack enemy assets if necessary.
He has called for orbital interceptors and other weapons.
‘We must be well prepared for conflicts in space. And if deterrence fails, we will fight and win,” he said at a conference in April.

Western officials warn of a range of threats, including ground-based lasers, electronic jammers, cyber attacks and anti-satellite missiles.
In orbit, the United States, China and Russia all have maneuverable satellites that can approach and inspect other spacecraft.
Such systems could be adapted to carry weapons, including lasers or projectiles.
Western officials say Beijing and Moscow have demonstrated technologies that could be used to threaten U.S. and allied satellites.
The US has also accused Russia of developing an anti-satellite capability using a satellite designed to carry a nuclear weapon. Moscow has denied it is developing a space-based anti-satellite nuclear weapon.
British Tedman said in an interview last fall that armies now see satellites as “weapon systems” that have to maneuver and fight.
The West “is working hard to maintain our strategic advantage in space,” he said.
Some specialists note that disrupting satellites from Earth is still easier than through spacecraft attacks on spacecraft.
In a rare revelation about its own capabilities, the US Space Force announced in June that it had introduced an Earth-bound electromagnetic weapon from L3Harris Technologies, designed to disable or disrupt enemy satellites.
President Trump created the US Space Force in 2019 after signing the National Defense Authorization Act. It was the first new military service since the US Air Force in 1947.
