Today’s Karl Stefanovic claims breakfast TV has no room for people with big ‘egos’… as his co-host Sarah Abo breaks her silence on his Noosa melee

Presenter Karl Stefanovic believes the breakfast TV scene is experiencing a positive change.

The 48-year-old, who has been hosting Nine’s breakfast program for years, told The Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday that the competitive media industry has no room for people with big egos.

“There used to be a few around. But if you’re an ego now, you’re gone. It just doesn’t happen,” he explained.

Karl, whose former co-hosts are Georgie Gardner and Lisa Wilkinson, also praised his current sidekick Sarah Abo, 37, for her good character and journalistic prowess.

“The show has benefited immensely from having Sarah in it. We’re people trying to get the right vibe and energy for a story and there’s nothing better,” Karl gushed.

Sarah began hosting Today full-time in January, but had been a familiar face to viewers for a while when she filled in for former co-anchor Ally Langdon last year.

Elsewhere in the interview, Karl was also asked to discuss his infamous Noosa melee with Michael Clarke, but declined with a “no comment.”

Sarah was happy to comment briefly on the saga, but told the publication, “There seems to be real interest in the program as we get a welcome every day into people’s households.”

“So it kind of comes with the territory that there would be interest in what Karl is up to in Noosa,” she added diplomatically.

Footage surfaced earlier this year of Karl and his wife Jasmine attempting to break up a fight between Michael Clarke and his girlfriend, Jasmine’s sister Jade Yarbrough, in the coastal town.

In the video, which was filmed by an onlooker on Jan. 10 and later sold to The Daily Telegraph for reportedly $10,000, Jade accused Clarke of cheating on her on Dec. 17 with his ex, fashion designer Pip Edwards.

It’s been revealed that Michael, 42, and Jade are no longer together after the incident – much less on speaking terms.
