Theo James showcases his gym-honed physique in a grey top and shorts as he goes for a workout in LA amid James Bond rumours

Theo James cut a casual figure as he headed to a local gym in Venice Beach, California, on Wednesday.

The Gentlemen star, 39, showed off his gym-honed physique as he wore a gray T-shirt and matching shorts for the outing.

Theo, who also starred in the Divergent film series, had a black bag and a water bottle with him for the trip.

The High Wycombe-born star has been enjoying his time in the US and the night before he was seen watching the Los Angeles Clippers take on the Dallas Mavericks.

Theo stood courtside at Crypto.com Arena for round one, game two of the 2024 NBA Playoffs, and stood out in a FRAME jacket and Karhu running shoes.

The actor, who is of Greek descent through his businessman father, is one of at least 20 established names linked with the James Bond role, vacant since Daniel Craig left the franchise in 2021.

He addressed the rumors The guard: ‘Everyone is interested in it [Bond] because it’s a big part of British cultural identity, but I probably wouldn’t be.

‘I think there are better people for that job. And honestly, it would be terrifying: if you do, there’s no going back. You open Pandora’s box there.

“You have to be willing to live a completely different life and have a different life for your family. And that would be quite difficult. Plus, my friends would take the p*ss out of me. Because they always say: ‘Bondopoulos – the Greek bond.’

James also ranked 18th in a recent poll commissioned by Lottoland among 2,000 British Bond fans.

Topping the list is Luther star Idris Elba, while Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill and Oscar-winning man with the golden gong, Cillian Murphy, also made the 20-strong list.

The long-running Bond franchise is known for turning those who play the secret agent into global superstars.

And it isn’t shy about casting stars out of left field to take on the role; The late Sean Connery, one of the most recognizable Bonds, had not appeared in a series of TV movies until he took on the role of the titular British spy in 1962’s Dr. No, with which he achieved international fame.

But while Elba was the first choice, fans may be left disappointed after the actor ruled himself out of playing the role last year so he could focus on his deal with Netflix, where he is starring in Luther: The Fallen Sun.

The actor brought up the ongoing discussions about his takeover as Ian Fleming’s famed British spy in February 2023.

When asked about the Luther film at the World Government Summit in Dubai, he said: “It’s very dark.

‘We’ve been working on the television show for about ten years and so the natural ambition is to bring it to the big screen, and so here we are with the first film.
