Think About It won the $20 million Everest Sprint at Royal Randwick in front of 45,000 delirious spectators on Saturday afternoon.
In a career highlight for Sydney-bred jockey Sam Clipperton, the $4 chance hailed ahead of I Wish I Win ($2.00) and Private Eye ($2.50).
Trainer Joseph Pride was delighted as he also oversees Private Eye, ridden by Nash Rawiller.
‘It was unbelievable. They (both runners) ran hard,” Pride said after the race.
“I felt comfortable going into the race that not only were they both going to run well. “It’s going to be an interesting journey where we go from here.”

Clipperton said he was blown away by Think About It’s electric performance
Pride is also unlikely to have a better payday as a coach.
Everest is a buy race with participants needing $700,000.
The winner receives a grand prize of $7 million, with $2.9 million for second and $2 million for third.
Incredibly, Pride will leave the track in Sydney’s east $9 million richer.
Clipperton said he was blown away by Think About It’s electric performance.
‘These things don’t happen. It just went so perfect.… I think that’s what really good horses do,’ he said as the horror of his journey began to sink in.
“I am very privileged to be in a position to ride this horse.”

A bold new trend has taken to the field, with many women showing up in cut-out dresses as the mercury hit a warm 32C in Sydney on Saturday.
Everest over 1200m is the highlight of Sydney’s racing calendar, and the glammed-up racers were out in force, soaking up the atmosphere.
Crowds began to gather at the gates from 10am, showing off their best fashion, with organizers saying more than 20,000 people had arrived by 1pm.
With Sydney turning on its best weather, players embraced a day in the sun with high heels, strappy dresses and glamor the order of the day.
Away from the track, Hot Dub Time Machine and Empire of the Sun were rocked by punters, in plenty of hair-raising mood.
