A Colombian government prosecutor has revealed that the Texas man accused of killing his girlfriend DJ had sex with her before choking her to death.

John Poulos, 35, appeared in court for the second time on Friday afternoon in the capital city of Bogotá, just five days after the body of 23-year-old Valentina Trespalacios was found inside a suitcase in a Dumpster.

Poulos, father of a boy and two girls in the United States, is charged with four counts: aggravated femicide, concealment, alteration and destruction of crime scene evidence.

Prosecutor Daniel Gomez said that after Poulos had sex with Trespalacios, he repeatedly hit her with his fists. He then wrapped her hands around her neck until he strangled her to death.

Poulos remained seated with his attorney and a court-appointed interpreter as Gomez made the shocking revelations.

He added that Poulos folded the body of Trespalacios so that it would fit in the suitcase. However, he left his head sticking out of the luggage bag and covered the bag with a towel.

On Sunday, Poulos was caught on camera placing the suitcase in the trunk of a Volkswagen Voyager in the garage of the apartment building on the north side of Bogotá and then driving away.

He drove to the south of Bogotá, where he dumped the bag in a dumpster next to a park, and drove to the airport.

Before boarding a flight to Panama City, Panama, as part of his escape, Gomez said Poulos dropped Trespalacios’ cell phone at El Dorado International Airport.

Poulos’s plan to avoid capture included the cash purchase of two plane tickets, one from Panama City to São Paulo, Brazil, to disrupt the international manhunt by the Colombian National Police and a flight to Istanbul, Turkey, where it would connect with a plane. to Montenegro, where there is no extradition treaty with Colombia.

Panamanian immigration agents and Interpol arrested him Tuesday night at Tocumen International Airport moments before he was about to board a Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul.

Poulos told authorities in Panama that the defunct Medellín Cartel was behind the assassination of Trespalacios and that he had fled Colombia because cartel members wanted to kill him.

Gomez explained to Poulos that if he decides to go to trial, he could be sentenced to 500 to 600 months if convicted of the murder of Trespalacios.

However, the prosecution left open an offer that would reduce the sentence to 375 months if he accepts a guilty plea. The judge would have to accept the terms of the agreement and Poulos would not be allowed to back out if he agreed.

Trespalacios’ stylist, Verónica Jiménez, confirmed to DailyMail.com that Poulos was married with three children in the United States, but that the children’s mother had filed a restraining order against him for being violent.

He had been dating Trespalacios for eight months and was thinking of marrying her.

Poulos’ eldest son, Jackson Poulos, was just four years old when doctors diagnosed him with stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma of the GI tract and abdomen. Cancer is very rare, with only about 350 cases a year in the United States.

In 2017, the boy underwent a 13-hour operation in which the surgeon removed more than 150 tumors that were detected in his pelvis, sigmoid colon, appendix, spleen, and gallbladder.

The boy was a special guest of former House Speaker Paul Ryan in the House of Representatives for former President Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of the United States Congress on January 30, 2018.

Jiménez said that Poulos had become increasingly jealous and upset with Trespalacios because she rejected his demands to make their relationship public on her social media accounts. Trespalacios had explained that her network was only to promote her DJ work.

Poulos arrived at the apartment on Thursday and moved in with Trespalacios on Friday night. He accompanied her to a DJ gig early Saturday morning at the Nexxus bar.
