Meanwhile, Swift released a statement that same day responding to the Jolene icon’s passing.

The Love Story hitmaker said goodbye to Parton, who died earlier today at the age of 80 at a Nashville medical center, in a statement shared with the Daily Mail.

“A world without Dolly doesn’t feel possible, real or right,” says Swift, who started her career in country music before conquering pop music. “But because of the eternally generous way she spent her time on this earth and the countless lives she changed for the better, her legacy will be eternal.

“She truly was the gift that kept on giving. Dolly gave us someone to look up to and encouraged us to be who we are as individuals,” Swift continued. “Somehow she was able to give us her lessons about the world in a gentle and honest way, at the same time and often in hilarious ways.

“She managed to give the world the ultimate mystery and fantasy in some corners of her life, but to give complete transparency in the ways that counted,” she added. “Somehow she was true grace and true daring, all in one dazzling person. She possessed the gentlest heart when it came to the struggles of others, and a spine of steel to defend her self-worth as an artist.”

Swift concluded her statement with an expression of gratitude for the late country music icon.

‘I, along with her other fans, are so grateful for that. For the melodies and lyrics she wrote that thawed even the coldest hearts. For the millions of books she made available to children around the world so they could fall in love with stories as she did,” she wrote. ‘She walked the tightrope so that young girls like me could grow up with the dream of joining the circus. Dolly, I will think of you every step of the way.”

The legendary country singer’s death was confirmed Tuesday in an Instagram video posted by her cousin Bryan Seaver.

“A world without Dolly doesn’t feel possible, real or right,” Swift said in a statement to The Daily Mail. “But because of the eternally generous way she spent her time on this earth and the countless lives she changed for the better, her legacy will be eternal.”

Later on Tuesday, Parton’s representatives revealed in a statement that the singer had died after a “brief battle with cancer” Peoplealthough it was not specified which type of cancer she was dealing with.

“Our beloved Dolly Parton spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope and integrity to everything she touched,” the statement said.

“After bravely enduring a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, surrounded by loved ones.”

Swift was a supporter of Parton’s charitable efforts, and she and her husband Travis Kelce included the country icon’s Imagination Library among the charities to which they donated a staggering $26 million shortly before tying the knot at Madison Square Garden in New York City in July.

Swift and Kelce donated $2 million to Parton’s Imagination Library, a book giveaway program founded more than three decades ago with the goal of “fostering a love of reading” in children around the world.

In a video post shared with X after the donation was made, Parton thanked the couple and said she was “overjoyed” by their generosity.

“Taylor and Travis, it’s Dolly,” she started. “I just got word that you two are making a two million dollar donation to my Imagination Library. Thank you, thank you, thank you!’

‘I am overwhelmed and overjoyed by that gratitude. Now it’s clear that you’ve made giving back an important part of your lives,” Parton continued.

“She truly was the gift that kept on giving. Dolly gave us someone to look up to and encouraged us to be who we are as individuals,” Swift continued. “Somehow she was able to give us her lessons about the world in a gentle and honest way, at the same time and often in hilarious ways.”

In July, Parton said she was “overjoyed” with Swift and her husband Travis Kelce ahead of their wedding at Madison Square Garden after they donated $2 million to her Imagination Library charity.

She then asked the expectant couple about their plans to start a family.

Parton joked, “So, if you have your firstborn, can I have it? Because that will be a special baby!’

She continued, “You know the mission of the Dollywood Foundation is: “Dream more, care more, learn more and be more.”

“And thank you again for your very generous gift, and we will now continue that mission in even bigger ways with your money,” Parton added. “So thank you, and know that I will always love you,” she added.
