St Mary’s crash: Sad update after boy, 5, and his mother were involved in horror accident between their car and a truck

A five-year-old boy has tragically died after the car he and his mother were traveling in crashed into a parked truck and trailer in the early hours of Friday.

Emergency services had to free the woman, 38, and her son from the wreckage after the collision on Christies St in Sydney’s western suburb of St Marys about 3.20am.

The pair were attended at the scene by aparamedics before being rushed to Westmead Hospital.

Both were in critical condition before the boy died overnight.

Harrowing photos of the scene showed a white hatchback being rammed into the back of the truck.

Debris was seen strewn across the road and the trunk of the car was lifted.

It is believed the mother was driving and the child was in the backseat.

Police have cordoned off the crime scene and started an investigation into the cause of the accident.
