Selena Gomez Offloads LA Mansion Worth $5.4 Million After Hints About Family Plans With Husband Benny Blanco

Selena Gomez sold her mansion in Encino, California on Tuesday for $5.4 million.

The Texas-born singer-actress, 34, reached a deal on the home after initially putting the six-bedroom, 10-bathroom, 11,500-square-foot home on the market last May with an asking price of $6.49 million. TMZ reported.

The Only Murders In The Building actress, who is married to 38-year-old Benny Blanco, bought the property in 2020 for $4.89 million.

The home was previously owned by the late rock icon Tom Petty, who sold it in 2017, just a few months before his death at age 66 in Malibu.

The abode is where Gomez filmed her unscripted cooking show Selena + Chef and was also the location for her Rare Beauty makeup video tutorials.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Gomez for further comment on the story.

The sale comes less than two years after Gomez purchased a sprawling Beverly Hills mansion with husband Benny Blanco, 38, in December 2024 for an eye-watering $35 million.

According to property records seen by Realtor.comshe listed the house on May 1.

The ad described the home as a “private celebrity complex” that “conjures a magical vision of romance, inspiration and tranquility.”

According to the listing, the estate featured “distinctive architecture, crafted with exceptional attention to detail and the finest quality.”

Notable features include a gourmet chef’s kitchen, wine cellar, gym, massage room, creative workspace, kitchen, dining room, singing booth, study, family room and guest suite.

The entrance at the front of the house leads to the living room and showcases the home’s “sophisticated architecture and high ceilings,” according to the listing.

The home’s main level is centered around “a spectacular primary suite, complemented by a second primary suite on the top floor and four additional bedroom suites,” according to the listing.

The home was first built in 1989 for Petty and has undergone extensive renovations in the decades since.

The inside of the house has a charming appearance with several high beamed ceilings.

The entire house is painted white and has large windows that give an airy, beachy cottage atmosphere.

There is also a swimming pool with hot tub and a covered outdoor BBQ area with seating for at least 10 people.

According to the listing, “the idyllic outdoor area includes a cabana with bar, fire pit, outdoor dining area and a waterfall and stream that flows into the pool and spa.”

News of the sale came as Gomez hinted Tuesday about her future plans to become a mother.

She shared a sweet photo of herself interacting with a baby on her Instagram Story, alongside the caption, “One day.”

Gomez, who previously revealed she is unable to carry a child amid a yearlong battle with the autoimmune disease lupus, added a watery-eyed emoji and one with the thought bubble.

This isn’t the first time she’s shown a desire to enter her era of parenthood.

Less than two weeks after tying the knot with A-list music producer Benny Blanco in 2025, the Emmy nominee made the comment while promoting season two of the Wizards Of Waverly Place sequel series, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.

Gomez famously starred in the original Emmy-winning Disney Channel show, which aired from 2007 to 2012, as teenage witch Alex Russo.

In her Instagram Story, Gomez revealed that her character Alex is now a “mommy” as she posted footage from the reboot’s season finale.

“Alex Russo is a mom,” Gomez wrote, before adding, “hopefully I am one day.”

The footage shows Gomez sharing an emotional moment with her on-screen daughter Billie, played by Janice LeAnn Brown.

In a behind-the-scenes clip posted to YouTube, Gomez said she and Janice played “mother and daughter.”

“I’m truly grateful for this sweet Janice child,” Gomez said with a laugh.

Janice revealed that the original tableau was for the season two finale, in which Alex reveals to Billie that she is her mother, leaving her and Gomez in tears.

“It was very emotional, especially for me and her after the table read,” Janice said, and Gomez added, “We were just peeing.”

In September 2024, she revealed for the first time to Vanity Fair that she “cannot bear children” for medical reasons.

She said she had to “mourn” her inability to become a mother naturally after years of battling lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease that causes the body to attack itself.

“I’ve never said this before,” Gomez told the publication, “but unfortunately I can’t carry my own children.

‘I have many medical problems that would endanger my life and that of the baby. I had to mourn that for a while.’

Although she acknowledged that her path to motherhood will be “different,” Gomez said she is still determined to have a child of her own.

“It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. “I thought it would happen like it happens for everyone,” she said.

‘I’m doing much better with that. I think it’s a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, both of which are huge opportunities for me.

‘It made me very grateful for the other outlets for people who want to become mothers. I’m one of those people. “I’m excited to see what that journey will look like, but it will look a little different,” she said.

Selena said that through surrogacy or adoption, the child will be “mine.”

‘In the end it doesn’t matter to me. It will be mine. It will be my baby,” she said.

Gomez also spoke about the possibility of adopting in 2024 while attending a Time 100 Most Influential Companies event.

During the party, she revealed that she planned to adopt a child herself if she had not met the right partner by the age of 35.

“I was alone for five years, and I really got used to it,” Gomez said of her time before dating Blanco.

“A lot of people are afraid of being alone, and I probably tortured myself in my head for two years, and then I kind of accepted it.

“That’s when I came up with my plan, that I would adopt at the age of 35 if I hadn’t met anyone,” she explained.

Blanco has also expressed his desire to start a family with Gomez.

When Blanco appeared on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show last year, he confessed that his “next goal” is to have a child with Gomez.

‘That’s my next goal [to check] on the box. I have a lot of god children, I have a lot of nephews. “I love being around kids,” he told Stern.
