There’s something eerily familiar about Maisie Williams’ press tour for Practical Magic 2.
The Game of Thrones star is part of the ‘next generation of Owens sisters’, playing Sandra Bullock’s daughter in the sequel to the beloved 1998 film, and the young actress has taken style inspiration from her on-screen mother.
Last week the cast headed to London for the world premiere of their film and during the trip Maisie wowed with a series of looks inspired by Sandra’s 1990s red carpet style.
As the cast prepared for the Los Angeles premiere on Monday, Sandra paid tribute to Maisie on Instagram, posting a roundup of her London looks and saying: “My Antonia girl, you can raid Mama’s closet anytime.”
During Thursday’s London photocall for the film, Maisie made an appearance red carpet in the same black off-the-shoulder dress that Sandra wore to the premiere of her film Infamous in 2006.
A day earlier and Maisie’s Custom Ellie Misner dress for the world premiere in Leicester Square referenced Sandra’s red carpet look from the premiere of her 1999 film Forces of Nature.

Sandra, who has reflected that she was going through a ‘goth period’ at the time, wore a boat-neck top and silky skirt in the same red shade and cut as Maisie’s satin dress.
Maisie teamed her take on the look with a Roger Vivier satin clutch and a dazzling ruby and diamond choker.
As Sandra noted in her Instagram post, Maisie was also inspired by a lace-trimmed floral dress she wore in the original Practical Magic film, donning a similar Paul Smith style for another day of promo.
Sandra praised Maisie’s stylist Dino Bonačić, who she said “did a beautiful job bringing all these looks back to life.”
Dino revealed on his Instagram that he and Maisie talked about drawing from Sandra’s look when they first started working together. The stylist gushed, “I knew I wanted to pay tribute to her screen mother, who embodied the rebellious 1990s energy that Maisie exudes.”
Maisie plays Antonia Owens in the new film alongside Joey King as her older sister Kylie.
Sandra reprises the role of Sally and Nicole Kidman plays Gillian, two sisters from a long line of witches who try to live a normal life despite a family curse.
While Nicole and Sandra, alongside Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest as the Owens family aunts, all reprise their roles from the original 1998 film, Maisie and Joey’s roles have been recast.

Evan Rachel Wood and Alexandra Artrip played Sally’s youngest daughters in the original, but Evan, who was 11 when she played the role of Kylie, revealed that despite being offered to return to her role, it was decided her role needed to be recast.
Alexandra, who played the youngest daughter Antonia in the first film, quit acting after the film and now works for an advertising company.
Set 25 years after the original film, the sequel is an adaptation of Alice Hoffman’s 2021 follow-up story, The Book of Magic.
Nicole and Sandra, who have been busy surprising movie audiences during their press tour, produced the Warner Bros. film. Pictures, also starring Lee Pace and Solly McLeod.
“The Owens women must reunite and travel from their home in Massachusetts to Britain to confront the source of their magic and save the next generation of their family,” the film’s synopsis reads.
The original Practical Magic earned $68.3 million worldwide, according to The Numbers, which is under its $75 million budget. Despite the mediocre box office figures, the film became a cult classic.
Practical Magic 2 hits theaters on September 11.
