‘You know, I didn’t want to be in a big group of people. I don’t know, I was worried about getting angry and I didn’t want to do that, so that’s it.’

When the three-time Daytime Emmy winner passed away, aged 93, earlier this month at her New York home, Rosie shared a moving TikTok in her memory.

‘Very saddened to hear of the death of Barbara Walters. Although, 93, man. Who wouldn’t take that? What a long, eventful and legendary life she had,” said O’Donnell, who has 3.7 million followers on social media, on Friday night.

‘I spoke to all the prominent world leaders in memory. I interviewed everyone who was anybody, and I was lucky enough to be in their orbit for many years. And we watched a lot of Broadway shows together. And every time we would go backstage, I would try to help her with the backstage steps.

‘And she would always slap my hand and tell me to leave her alone [laughs]. He knew what he was doing, I can tell you. May she rest in peace and may everyone remember the barriers she broke down for women. She really did. She was the first and she will always be remembered.

The 12-time Emmy winner was the moderator of The View from September 2006 to May 2007, where she made headlines and garnered ratings primarily for her political debates with outspoken Republican Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
