The man died at the scene and the woman was rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital with injuries to her upper body.
A siege is now underway at a nearby property in northern Melbourne, where police believe a man possibly involved in the incident is bunkering down.

On Wednesday around 8:20 am, emergency services arrived at an incident at Reservoir Private Hospital, which the police suspect is a murder.
“A crime scene has been identified and Homicide Squad detectives will investigate the matter,” a Victoria Police spokesman said.
The police assume that the people involved are known to each other.
Residents of Willoughby St told Announce sun the street is normally ‘quiet and beautiful’.
“We heard the sirens this morning, my neighbor said it happened in the (hospital) parking lot,” said one woman.
