Big Game Vini

Vinicius Jr, what a player!

The Brazilian winger always shows up when Real Madrid need him most, and these semi-final stats only prove that.

Remember, his goal against Liverpool in the 2022 final won them their 14th Champions League.

He is the definition of a great game player.

Good omens for Los Blancos

Bayern Munich fans, you might want to look away.

Most of the pre-match statistics are very favorable for Real Madrid. If you believe in omens, it will be a wonderful evening for the brand new Spanish champion.

Madrid are unbeaten in their last eight Champions League meetings with Bayern Munich, winning six of them. They have also won six of their last seven home games against them.

In Bayern’s last sixteen Champions League matches against Los Blancos, they have not kept a clean sheet once. It is the longest run of the German team without a shutout against any club in the competition.

I always say: statistics are there to be broken.

Bellingham vs. Kane: Part II

Although there are no more English teams in the Champions League, it still includes English internationals.

Jadon Sancho has already booked his place in the final, but which of his compatriots will he face: Jude Bellingham or Harry Kane.

The England captain performed better in the first leg, scoring from the spot despite Bellingham trying to deter him in the build-up.

That moment proved that no friendship can stand in the way of the pursuit of Champions League glory. All pleasantries are left behind when the game starts at 8 p.m.

Which Englishman ends up on a plane back to his home country?

Thomas Tuchel: ‘Not impossible’ to win at Bernabeu

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel speaks on Tuesday:

(The Bernabeu) is one of the most difficult stadiums to win in, but it is not impossible. We had a very good first stage, we were better than them, but unfortunately we didn’t win. Considering they are at home, this is perhaps a 51% advantage for Real Madrid. They are clearly one of the biggest clubs in the world. But we are also a big club in Europe. That’s why it’s a great matchup.

Carlo Ancelotti: ‘It could be a magical night’

Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, speaks on Tuesday:

It is a great motivation to experience such a day. Living today is wonderful. We have to enjoy it, tomorrow (match day) we will worry. They (Bayern) have a great tradition in the Champions League and we have to respect a rival.

They did better than us in the first leg. We could have done much better defensively. We are very excited because we have a great opportunity to reach another final. It could be a magical evening for our fans.

First leg: Bayern Munich 2-2 Real Madrid

Where has the time gone? I can’t believe it’s already been eight days.

We got a belter in the first leg. It was a game that went one way and then the other, with both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid throwing the kitchen sink at each other.

Vinicius Jr was on the money again for Madrid, opening the scoring midway through the first half and in turn silencing the Allianz Arena.

However, that quickly changed as the German team came out in full force in the second half, erasing Real Madrid’s lead within 12 minutes of the restart through Leroy Sane and Harry Kane.

The Bavarians looked set to take a lead on the first leg to Germany, but as always the fourteen-time winners had the final say. Vinicius Jr. secured his brace from the spot to take him to the next level.

If we get something like we saw last week, we’re in for a treat.

About last night…

Firstly, I imagine there are a few sore heads in the Borussia Dortmund camp this morning, what an evening it was for them.

The German side were exceptional in Paris last night as they ended Kylian Mbappe’s dreams of leaving PSG with a Champions League trophy.

Dortmund defended for their lives but were also lucky, and Mats Hummels’ second-half header means they will take to the Wembley pitch again in a Champions League final.

Let’s be honest: no one expected to see the Bundesliga team in the final. Most people thought they wouldn’t even make it to the group stage.

Well, they defied all odds, and it’s totally deserved. The question is, who will they face?

Wembley awaits the winner

Nights don’t get much bigger than this.

After an incredible first leg in Munich, the tie is perfectly balanced. The two sides really put on a show for us last week.

But in a way it’s like we have a clean slate. Now that away goals no longer exist, we can forget the result of the first leg. It will be a direct shootout for a place in the final.

Real Madrid certainly has the advantage. They come into the match having secured their 36th La Liga title this weekend, while they will also have the support of the home crowd. Los Blancos also just give off the aura that they can’t be defeated, don’t they?

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich lost again this weekend as their nightmare at home is almost over.

However, Bayern were a different prospect in the Champions League. You certainly can’t ignore them here.

Whatever happens, this is going to be a blast.

Everyone on the phone in Madrid!

What is that ABBA song again? ‘The winner takes all’…

Well, the song certainly rings true tonight. The stakes don’t get much higher, as the outpouring of emotions showed last night in the Parc des Princes.

Both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have been here before, they know what it takes, but one of them has to lose.

Which team will face Borussia Dortmund in the tunnel at Wembley on June 1?

Are we ready for a repeat of the 2013 final, or will Los Blancos secure a place in the final for the 18th time in their history? We’ll know in four hours.

Make yourself comfortable, it will be a great evening.
